Comments on: Georgia Tries To Pray Up A Storm
Governor Of Drought-Ravaged State Leads Prayer Service; Protesters Demonstrate Nearby
- Presumably, those who believe that praying for rain "to him who can and will make a difference," that is, to him who can make it happen, as Gov. Perdue believes, must equally believe that "he" also made the very drought from which relief is now sought through the prayers for rain. Why not first ask "him": "In the first place, why the drought? Why the suffering? What are you trying to prove?"

- Something I am not interested in is a debate on one''s beliefs. I have mine and respect others. I am not here to convert anyone. With the way things are now-a-days, that job is left to the parents or family members. Too many people take offense these days and I feel it a waste of someone''s time. Not mine, but others. My question to you is probably easily answered because of forums like this. People will write something just to get attention, but rarely will open up with their beliefs, only to get someone upset or think they''ll make someone laugh. The question (since I rambled so much) is why do people think they are the foremost authority on delicate subjects like this when they are usually the kind of person that hasn''t been anywhere in life except their home town? I have been around the world a few times, lived in other countries and have been exposed to several different religeons.

- Pray for an end to the egregious US industrial greed that accounts for a vast part of the problem''s cause.
Pray that the rotten bush&cheney symbionts decompose.
Pray mightily for brains! - Reply to this comment

- jn122736, nice statement, but it still doesn''t answer my questions. You seem to have been bouncing back and forth about it.....

- Maybe I''m just cynical, but... I''m going to go out on a limb and say that a rain dance (or prayer, whatever) isn''t going to make it rain. If it does, though, why don''t they pray for world peace while they''re at it. No! I know! Global warming! Bush can lead us in a prayer, and THAT will stop global warming!

- To mudrose;
You were very quick to intervene in my response to singinrick with your supposed logical comment about starting with a molecule and adam for an answer as to where god came from (I must assume that you felt that was the answer) yet when faced with the same logic about where the molecule came from you, just as quickly, deserted logic and dodged the question. Could it be that you do not have a logical answer?
To mudrose, sunsetbillyb, and anyone else it may concern;
I will continue the debate if and when you stick to answering questions and/or offering logical opinions, otherwise it is a waste of both my time and yours.
To mitchoncbs
Most people feel defensive because they are very offended by the UNEQUIVOCAL statements/comments made by those like singinrick.
Your comment stated clearly that you are a believer in god. That offends nobody.
Rick, and too many others, cannot allow themselves to qualify their statements as opinion/belief because it would make them feel unfaithful to their god, and in need of repentance.
If they would qualify their claims/evidence (in any debate) as opinion/belief with every comment/posting, few if any would be offended.
Is it so much harder to say I believe god created heaven and earth than to state unequivocally %u201Cgod created heaven and earth%u201D?
They not only state faith as fact, they proceed to tell those who do not agree with them how wrong they are. - Reply to this comment
- I see. So that''''s why you and ricky believe in the myth of god? Because you''''re scared fairy princesses? It all makes sense now!

Fairy princesses were made by God too. Anything God makes is good. Does it all make sense to you now, too. - Reply to this comment
