- Was this poor guy left-handed? If so, then it''s yet another example of how we lefties are oppressed. Make all tools so that they can be used easily regardless of your dominant hand and we can avoid nasty accidents like this.
Regardless, this is a terrible thing to happen and I feel bad for the guy. - Reply to this comment
- You have clowns like newster1 who say something horribly mean and callous. Then you have clowns like marcodele who try to extend newster1''s comment to the millions of people who have a different political point of view than his own.

"I may not like what you say, but I will defend your right to say it"
is the very bedrock of the concept of "freedom of speech"
BUT WHAT YOU SAID WAS DISGUSTING

- HERE LISTEN
to someone who has worked with a wood chipper as a PROFESSIONAL
NO RINGS, NO WATCH, NO BRACELETS, NO LOOSE CLOTHING
TIE BACK LONG HAIR
WHEN BRANCH or TREE IS TOO BIG TO HANDLE
USE TWO PEOPLE TO THROW IT IN
YOU PUT THE BRANCH IN AND STEP BACK
YOU NEVER PUT ANY PART OF YOUR BODY IN THE RECEIVING CONE
USE ANOTHER TREE OR BRANCH TO PUSH OTHER BRANCHES
THAT HAVE FAILED TO MOVE THROUGH THE RECEIVING CONE PROPERLY
STUPID GETS YOU KILLED
NO STOP BUTTING INSIDE THE CONE
EVERY BRANCH YOU THROW IN WILL HIT A STOP BUTTON
NO STEEL GLOVE WILL WORK
THE CHIPPER WILL CHEW UP A STEEL PIPE
(DULL THE BLADE BUT WILL (May) NOT STOP)
STUPID GETS YOU KILLED
YOU PUT THE BRANCH IN AND STEP BACK
NEVER BE IN A POSITION WHERE
THE BRANCHES BEHIND YOU CAN GRAB YOU AND PULL YOU IN
STAY OUT OF THE RECEIVING CONE

Obviously, I was talking about within the boundaries of the rules of engagement. You can say stupid, or awful things, and still be within the rules.
And you are correct, it is a privilege to post on here, thanks to CBS, but all speech is still protected by the Constitution. - Reply to this comment

No, they don''t, if you haven''t read "Rules of Engagement", you shouldn''t even be bothering us. People get banned, and i''m sure there''s some posts the FBI and Secret Service check out. These CBSNews blogs are a privelage, and i hope they continue to support them, inspite of the abuses. - Reply to this comment
- My sympathies to this man''s family.
And yes, newster is an ignorant little POS, on several counts. - Reply to this comment

Yes sir, what goes around comes around. I wouldn''t get to close to the shredder if I were him. - Reply to this comment
- Well,, without naming names, we do have freedom of speech in this country, at least last time I checked.

- The easiest fail safe option would be a pedal. If the operator does not have a foot on the pedal then the chipper will not run. Kind of like the newer lawnmowers.
