In Spite Of Bickering In D.C., Experts Say Interrogation Method Is Torture, Must Never Be Used
- I have looked everywhere and cannot find an article or news story about Al Qaeda and company debating the Geneva Convention, treatment of prisoners (who are really pawns and hostages) and most of all torture. We americans are being criticized world wide no doubt but for what? We are imprisoning our soldiers and scrutinizing their every shot in a war where the opponent has no rules and not only dresses in civilian clothes but mingles with them. How many U.S. prisoners do they have right now? None that are alive. So if you want to tip them upside down and give them a drink to save even 1 U.S. soldier then go for it.

- I do not know why Bush/Cheney would gagg Lt. Col Couch, heck-the whole world knows that they are war criminals and so are many of their brown-shirt stooges-General, officers, diplomats, bureaucrats, Congressmen, and private contractors. There will be no "get out of jail free card". This is not monopoly we are playing here and I suggest that many in this Fascist, Criminal mis-administration think twice about what they are doing and covertly give information to Congress and the press.

- The Moslems won the "Hearts and Minds" of their people through use of the sword. They respect strength and despise weakness. They do not hate us because we tortured anyone. They envy and covet our power, so they attack our weak point: we are addicted to approbation.
The use of force, even torture to win this conflict will not make more enimies, it will demonstrate we are a force they must come to terms with or suffer the consequences. The choice is up to them. - Reply to this comment
- hungry1968,,, Actually GITMO hasn''t worked out so hot. We''ve only managed to get one detained changed to enemy combatant status, & he was an Austrailian & sent to them & he only recieved 6 months in jail.... Most were rendered to other country''s for the torture.

His redundant question of "if a bomb was going off in an hour..." is so stupid that it doesn''t deserve a response, but I did anyway.
Say I was the terrorist and was being tortured as to "where the bomb is". If I said "the empire state building", that would be enough enough to stop the torture - but there''s no way they would find the bomb in only one hour, because the main focus would be evacuation of the building. And then the Sears tower in Chicago explodes. So where is the pay off for torture?
And why are we letting all of these supposed "torturees" out of Guantanamo if they''re so evil and dangerous? And how much actionable intelligence is someone that we''ve had in custody for YEARS going to have? All questions that I posed to jowand the moron earlier - and I still haven''t gotten my response yet. - Reply to this comment
- jowand,,,,, You are quite wrong on that, much actionable intel we did get by showing respect in interegations & not by abusive techniques.

- You really should take the time to watch other news sources & read articles that don''t come from a right wing news or political group.

Unfortunately, you are correct. We used to be THE moral authority - when we talked people listened. George Bush and his cabal have squandered all of our credibility. They''ve also financially bankrupted us. They''ve compromised our national security. They''ve turned their backs on the citizens of America. Or should I say the 95% of us that aren''t in the top 5% of wage earners. Our money isn''t strong enough to buy clout through the lobbyists - but it''s more than enough for Haliburton to steal directly from our treasury.
What a shame. - Reply to this comment
