Fires intentionally set? Lets look at who might have started them.

With our crackdown on illegals, and the high concentration of illegals in Calf. I wonder, if they''re saying, you won''t let us stay, then we''ll burn it. If we can''t have any, then neither can you.

I love the 2.5 billion dollars a week in Iraq speech. They say that as if it were a significant portion of the federal budget. To give you some perspective the federal government spends more than 19 billion dollars a week on health care, more than 17 billion a week on government pensions and more than 15 billion a week on education. Heck, just the bureaucracy alone costs almost 3 billion dollars a week. Iraq doesn''''t amount to much when compared to all of that spending.

Dropping fire retardant and water from planes isn''t working. Let''s try dropping illegal immigrants with clown shoes; they can stamp out the fire.

Katrina was a learning curve. The situation in California is different, the people there are more civilized and are of a higher level of sophistication than the New Orleans population. It helps when you are dealing with reasonable people instead of free loaders.
Posted by cmp271 at 05:16 PM : Oct 24, 2007

Must be nice to be so high and mighty, that learning curve as you call it cost many their lives, maybe they couldn''t afford to buy a plane ticket out of town. They were mostly poor, without means to leave. Have you ever been in that Position????????? Some didn''t want to leave their Pets, some their homes for fear of looters. Did that mean they deserved to be left out in the streets or on roof tops to die? To Drown? How long was it before they were given help???????? Aid? To live in Conditions animals do not live in. Must be nice to be the Judge and Jury for all those Poor Souls!! Nah, i would not want to be that cynical. I and many across our Nation were ashamed, demoralized watching that unfold on TV and no where did President Bush and his sidekick Cheney send help! All knew in Washington this Hurricane was going to be bad news for all living in New Orleans. They knew the Levees needed lots of money to fix them but chose not to fund that needed project, what is the big deal of seeing a few hundred poor people lose their lives and laying on the streets waiting for their Corpses to be disposed of? None to you. Shame on you!!

Get a clue, you don''''t really think that everyone in Cali is rich and famous do you? You are quite ignorant if that is what you truly beleive. Just go ask our favorite Bush hater Randy, even he has to admit that there are plenty of regular folks here too.

Posted by nottellin1 at 05:53 PM : Oct 24, 2007

I call it what it is, Bush hater has nothing to do with it if they are sitting on Malibu Beach. They may be regular folks to you but when they show huge homes on TV that are in Malibu, that is not my normal neighbors! Nor do i consider them regular folks.

Oh and by the way, i would love to wipe that silly grin off of his stupid face LOL!! So would many others in our nation that he has destroyed!! Bush is a disgrace. Pure and Simple!!

PLANT AN IRANIAN BOOK OF MATCHES NEAR ONE OF THE FIRES AND IT WOULD GIVE US A GOOD EXCUSE TO NUKE THEM.

I had a bad feeling this would happen when the first fire, in Malibu, started last week.

The news constantly reported how "dangerous" the conditions were and were to become with the shifting weather/wind patterns. The news constantly reported how the shifting winds were setting up for a "red flag" fire danger with the offshore Santa Ana winds kicking up to high speeds and ultra-high gusts.

Essentially, the news organizations announced that the conditions for a wild firestorm was perfect... thus, a pyromaniac''s dream come true!

As the news organizations talked about these conditions, someone out there was probably thinking how much damage they could cause by simply dropping a lit match on the ground. Sadly, that seems to be the case.

And as a result, many lost all that they worked hard for... and some tragically lost their lives.

This is not the first time this has occurred, where an arsonist takes advantage of the conditions which sets up for a raging wild fire. It may be wise for news organizations to possibly cut out the details on how the weather conditions would cause a major wild fire, but just simply announce that "conditions are dangerous for possible wild fires". (Without mentioning the wind/weather patterns).

(I am not blaming the news for causing this. I am simply stating that the news should be more wary of disseminating information that could cause people to carry out harmful activities on purpose).

Thank you nvadave and nolkevnic for your sane responses. Thanks to all that put others before themselves to help humanity. Especially the fire fighters. My father is a retired Battalion Chief of D.C. Firefighters. He risked his life saving lives his whole life.

Oh man. Only in America would I read the posts section and see a debate between Dems and Pubs. Only in America would I read an article about a trageic fire in California and see a post about Halliburton. LOL. Why would you folks turn a tragedy like these fires into a partisan political debate? Lol. Please do not let your opinions blind you to the fact that many people''s lives in California have been ruined. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. One life has been lost so far. Families displaced. Homes destroyed. Things like family photo albums and videos gone forever. Memories in ash. Irreplaceable things gone forever. Have a little sympathy. Show a little respect. Tragedies like these should unite us. We are all Americans. The first three words in the constitution are "we the people...". The posts in this topic should be about thanks for lives saved and sympathy and respect for what was lost. They should respect the hard work of those that have kept the death toll to one person like the comment below mine. Wake up people.
