"A small silver lining, she (and Woo) can claim that turning Hollywood even more into a concrete jungle prevented some of the fires."

"(CNN) -- The entertainment industry was not immune to the impact of the fires blazing across Southern California.

Sean Penn has lost two trailers to the fires, according to the TV show "Access Hollywood." The trailers were next to the site of a Penn home that burned down during the 1993 fires.

Malibu, one of the areas most directly affected by the fires, is the home of a number of celebrities, including Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Mel Gibson, Jennifer Aniston, Victoria Principal and Sting.

Gibson and Principal, who live in in different areas of Malibu, were both evacuated early Monday morning. They are both in undisclosed locations and their families and pets are OK, according to spokespeople. So far, their houses have been spared. Soon it will be time to send in Halliburton so the U.S. can pay triple the required cost for disaster relief.

Hate to say it... but after 7 years of Pure Fascism...

You have to ask, "Who is to Gain."

Was this started intentionally? Are they REALLY trying to stop it? Does anyone Gain money out of it? The contracters that will rebuild whatever is damaged? Is there some sort of Political Gain or a Mass Citizen Movement that will come out of it?

Assuming The Federal Elitist Government didn''t want this to happen...

Why is California''s National Guard in Iraq?

Were they prepared for this type of Emergency?

Aren''t there Federal Workers assigned to monitor potential Forest Fires and prepare for them?

So... is someone going to Gain something from these fires OR is our Government just in Complete Corruption and Incompetance?

Only Inquiring minds want to Blow...

California chaparral is burning like crazy when it''s dry and windy. What a surprise. It''s kind of like a floodplain flooding when it rains a lot. These "disasters"/events are awfully predictable. If you don''t want your house to burn in a natural firestorm, California chaparral is about the last place where you''d want to build it. Look at the slopes many of those houses are on. When the rain finally comes, there''s a new "disaster" coming. Easily predictable mudslides.

Probably not an insurance scam Brian, since insurance only pays the actual cost to rebuild their house. Even after their homes are rebuilt the appraised values will plunge because the whole area is a wasteland now. Nobody will pay a million plus dollars for a new home in the middle of a barbecue pit.

The NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Web Site has good photos of the Fires, and MSNBC Has the Map showing how far the fires are apart, as well as a map and you can use windows live earth to view structures and other stuff! NOW if everybody will get a 6-pack of beer, drink up and put out those fires, I think you can imagine how without me telling you on line too !!!!

Some of these fires might very well have been started as insurance scams to stave off sub-prime shock foreclosures, but then got out of hand, as the hot and dry Santa Ana winds always spread fires this time of year.

I would like to see a map that shows the various fires and how far apart they are, how far they are from city centers, etc. as I don''''t know the names/locations of all of the areas mentioned in the piece, but have driven the area a number of times. It would make the piece more interesting to me.

Yo Sarge, I used to live on Fountain Ave. and Vine, right behind the old Ranch Market. Ah the good old days, before condo-mania and Peg Stevenson allowed the arts culture that had developed there to be forced out.

A small silver lining, she (and Woo) can claim that turning Hollywood even more into a concrete jungle prevented some of the fires.

You too Randy, if Hollywood starts to go, if I''m on line I''d most certainly be available to help if needed it. I don''t expect your Hills to burn though, there are too many areas uneffected for this to be terrorism.

To all of you in southern California, we are praying for your safety, and for your mental well being. This is a very hard time for all of you, and we wish we could do more. Stay safe.

That is very nice, your sentiment is most appreciated, but in actuality, for most of us this is business as usual. I pray for the lives lost and wish the injured a speedy recovery. Beyond that, I''d say over 80% percent of the population is uneffected, its a big state. Make sure to check out news about the Qualcom Stadium. The situation there comes as no surprise to lifelong Californian. As I said, business as usual. I think it''s because of all the type A''s here. We rise in the face of adversity, rather than to sink into dispair. I do know many, family and friends, in risky areas and they know that my assitance is only a phone call away because I called them and reminded them yesterday.

Alright Randy, keep up the good work. Hopefully, no one else will ever move here. A (no fatality) earthquake right about now would really shake things up. I can''''t imagine why anyone would ever want to live in LA, especially on a hillside with a killer view.

Like most people who live here I have a love/hate relationship with L.A. There are riots, earthquakes, fires, etc., but there is something about this place that gets into your heart. Perhaps because it''s the freest place I''ve ever lived. It''s a truly international city where all are welcome and we all have to find ways to get along....and we do. Sure we have our problems, but the love does overcome the hate for here, just barely true, but it still does. There''s no place in the world quite like Southern California.

Thank you. I live in Hollywood and if the fires move into the Hollywood Hills then it''ll spread down both sides, into the Valley and toward the city. The evacuations in San Diego constitute the largest displacement of civilians in America since the Civil War. This is not a game people. The fires are not even 1% contained and are going to grow.

God has shut up the heavens as in Bible days of old. It is time to repent and seek God.
