- There was a time when honorable military service and national pride meant something. Americans need to invest in their country in service or in support of those who serve in military or civilian service. Too few people help their neighbors that have had their homes and lands flooded, burned, or blown away. Too few help shelter, clothe, or feed our homeless and poor. Too few pay the 300 billion in past due income taxes. Too few live responsibly within their means. The many whom do not do this cause great strain upon our President. He must compensate using government resources when the people of the country should be acting first. You may express your opinions of President Bush, but at least I know that he won''t loot the White House upon his departure like his predecessor did. God Bless America and those who truly know what freedom means.

searcher911,
Are you just a craven fool, or are you a boot-licking Bush-fascist bobble-head?- Reply to this comment
- A comment like the one needs some explanation. Are you just a coward, or are you a muslim murderer of innocents hiding on the net, possibly you are just extremely stupid, or perhaps do you subscribe to the Nevil Chamberlain approach to violent anti-social behavior?
Whatever, you need a touch of reality, seriously.

- i could never do what this man did in a million
years, thank you sir. doing a sacrifice fly or
bunt in baseball is one thing, in war another.
in my opinion if you are alive in this era,
you should automatically get a heroes medal.
the challenges we face are absolutely overwhelming.
its always the time that tries men''s soul.
such peril. such bravery, such fidelity, such
integrity. outstanding. such teamwork.
it''s a time that brings the best out of many people.
the many must be saved from the madness of a few. - Reply to this comment
- BLACK MILITARY PERSONNEL - COWARDS?
Attention! Secretary of Defense:
I%u2019m having trouble understanding why no stories or news reports are showing the millions of brave and life-saving veterans, of African-American descent? I%u2019m sure, after all the reports of the Jessica Lynch%u2019s, Pat Tillman%u2019s, and Shoshana Johnson%u2019s, one Crispus Attucks type can be located?
Are there no records of any A-A veterans and active duty personnel receiving medals of valor and bravery? Something%u2019s terribly, and I must admit, suspiciously wrong here!
I%u2019m sure you%u2019ve heard the stories of the first men at Iwo Jima (and raising the U.S. flag) being Black. Many non-Black veterans have any reported stories of their lives being saved by Black soldiers. Is there zero A-A veterans buried at Arlington Cemetery, too?
The more I put this issue into perspective, it%u2019s really offensive when one considers how nine times out of ten, the stories reported on the current soldier%u2019s heroics turn-out to be fabricated. Then too, female servers in the direct line of fire in wars are few and far between, yet they are reported on as heroes before Black, male combatants?
This is disgraceful and a shame. I don%u2019t know who has decided that there have never been any A-A heroes in our wars, but it%u2019s mighty funny we have been recruited in mass numbers in all of them. We must be doing something right! - Reply to this comment
- Here is the part of the AP story that CBS chose to omit:
"Before the emotional White House ceremony, Murphy''s parents Dan and Maureen Murphy met with Bush and gave him a gold dog tag in tribute to their son.
"What we were most touched by was that the president immediately put that on underneath his shirt, and when he made the presentation of the Medal of Honor, he wore that against his chest," said the father.
After the ceremony, Dan Murphy said, Bush told the family: "I was inspired by having Michael next to my chest."
The father, who fought back tears during the ceremony, said they were "deeply moved" by Bush''s gesture."
CBS, as usual, lies through omission.
Shame on you, CBS. - Reply to this comment
