It amazes me that lethal injection has not been perfected yet. I am an animal lover that has had many many pets in my life. Cats, dogs, and horses. When it was the right time I had a veterinarian put them to sleep with a lethal injection...I was there every time. Every time it was over in less than a minute and appeared to be totally painless. Have a vet give the injections.

This is the wrong place for the ACLU to put its resources. The death penalty is sometimes administered to innocent people. That should NEVER happen, but it already has too many times. Since guilt "beyond reasonable doubt" is not the same as "beyond any doubt," we ought to change the standard of proof in death penalty cases. For example, if a guy is caught on video severely beating an elderly person, I don''t care if the victim dies or not, we should be able to put the defendant to death very soon, provided there is no doubt at all about his guilt. Never mind the difficult childhood he had; it''s too late to change that. We should learn something from it, and take better care of the current youth in this country, but once a person beats a 70-year-old woman for her purse, he needs to be eliminated from society, whether his victim dies or is just hospitalized. A "beyond any doubt" standard of proof would free us to execute without the worry about whether we got the right guy in some cases.

You''re absolutely right maedean. Even the phrase "Criminal Justice" shows how our society has placed the "rights" of criminals above those of victims.

My daughter''s murderer now has better medical and educational resources available to him than I do. A shame indeed.
