- Everyone knows the spying program exists.
Everyone knows it broke the existing law and Bush did not bother to change the law because he thinks he is above the law. If they can justify it and pass a law then so be it. They did not, they deliberately broke this and other laws with impunity.
There is zero evidence it has helped our security.
There is no independant oversight.
It can be abused in many way from checking up on reporters, candidates, and religious groups to insider trading. International banks will not want to do business here. If you like accurate news you are harmed. Of course, widespread spying has a chilling effect. This program is just like the old Soviet Union.
But, the lies are out of hand. They are trying to protect cronies more than protect the American people.
And, most importantly (read the article above). Those who broke the law were rewarded while those who asked questions were punished.
So, if you are a lawyer for a large company and a government official asks you to do something illegal - do yo advise your client to do the crime or ask questions? What kind of society will that produce?
Corruption is the worst form of Anti-Americanism. - Reply to this comment

What does YOUR simple minded opinion of me have to do with the issue. You are either FOR the right of the People and the Constitution or you aren''t. Stop being a sniveling Cowardly fascist attacking everyone who won''t follow the party.... it''s sick and it''s not American at all. Sieg Heil Bush!! - Reply to this comment

- It''''s not "child-like blind trust"...it''''s just being an adult and not believing that the government is out to put everyone behind bars. I have been to Europe (including East Germany when the wall was up and Serbia). We are nowhere near that now and we will never be near that.

If you can not stand up for the Constitution and the FREEDOMS so many have died for then you should have stayed. This is NOT what all those great men died for... having a Secret Police spying on American''s and having it until WE the PEOPLE can''t even find out who and how. You have heard of WE the PEOPLE haven''t you????? Sieg Heil Bush!! - Reply to this comment

- When our Constitution means NOTHING, when our Congress and elected Representatives are told they don''t matter any more, we no longer are the nation we''re supposed to be. We now are seeing the results of that throughout the world. We are Hypocrits and it shows. This Government and it''s dictator MUST fall if we EVER are going to hold our heads up as the lamp of freedom. We are NOT free today and we know it!! SIEG HEIL BUSH!!
