Fears Columbine-Style Attack, Ex-Husband; School District Goes To Court To Disarm Her
- NO WAY! The last thing we need is a gun at school. I don''''t care who has a permit to carry it. I can just see some group of thugs overtaking her and shooting up the school. BAD IDEA!

I am an experienced gun handler, If I feel threatened enough to draw that weapon, you won''t get close enough to kick, pressure point or even spit on me. Also you will do exactly what I say until the police get there or they will carry ''you'' away on a stretcher. Otherwise it stays out of sight, out of mind. - Reply to this comment
- Do we have metal detectors in our public schools? I haven''t been in a while, but when I was in school, our rubberband guns and smoke bombs made out of Bic pens and matches were the most lethal thing going. Ok, its been a while, really, but a good spit wad was the limit of our imaginations I guess. Sure, we had bullies and teachers that you might want to get back at, but it never entered into the minds of kids in those days to bring Dad''s shot gun or 45 to school and blow somebody away. There were fist fights at school of course, but that was it, and we knew if we were caught fighting in school, we would be sent to the coach for three swift licks with a board aerodynamically designed to make you remember. It served as a good deterent for most of us. Of course they don''t do that anymore....they are so much wiser now (HA!). Oh, the good ole days.

- I grew up in small towns Maine. Yes sah. I lived in gun free foster homes. There were no guns in them,no guns were in the schools. That teacher got NO business to carry a gun to school. Sorry lady. Yer right to bear arms..NOT IN CLASS YER DON''T. I know what the constutions said on this. That bloody gun can be kicked right out yer paw . There called pressure points. A sighted person can kick that gun out of yer paw and use it against ye. That lady''s job is to teach and if she is too bloody scared to then dear move on or get out the classroom. Go sell ladies clothes in a store. Yer not safe to be in school as yer may snap. My friend said if they pull it they aim to to shoot. That they do. Eevery day there is shootings here.

- I grew up in rural America and remember when kids who were old enough to hunt did bring guns to school. It stayed in there their auto/pick up and they went hunting immediately after school. But then we were taught right from wrong and if we did something wrong, we were punished. Morals were instilled in us as children. Our parents were not our friends they were our parents. As an adult now, my parents are my friends. I wouldn''t have it any other way.
Kudos to the lady for standing up for her rights.
There is another little known law in Oregon. You can carry a concealed weapon when on your way to and from hunting and fishing without a CWP. It makes sense, especially when traveling to and from hunting. That is usually the time when your hunting guns get stolen and you''re held up at gun point.
Too many bleeding hearts saying it is the environment that caused poor Johnny to go bad. No it isn''t! It is Johnny''s choice to do wrong and if Johnny tried to hi-jack me I would shoot him. End of story.
There is no justification for choices made to follow the wrong path, just punishment. The sooner the libs get that through their heads the better for all of us! - Reply to this comment
- And what about the children? If she is so fearful that her ex-husband (or anyone else for that matter) is going to come into the school to harm her, then her concern should be on the students and their safety, and she should leave the school. What right does she have to put our children in harm''s way? Is that fair to her, absolutely not, however, when it comes down to the rights of one teacher versus the safety to dozens and possibly hundreds of students, I don''t believe there should be any hesitation and that she should not be on the premises to begin with.

- If the teacher is armed, why not arm the kids too?
That would increase gun revenues.
Only in america...

Posted by dredre2k They are armed and they are dangerous too. These people of my generation, thought it was cool to be friends with these kids instead of instilling morales, and respect for others. They let the kids get away with everything and never raise their voice to these kids. They spared the rod, and have spoiled the child. Now we have little p--sy whipped kids taking guns to school cause they are to chicken s-it to face their fears head on. If I were a teacher I would be a black belt, and carry a gun. They are kids and need to be taught right from wrong. But your still gonna have the few that think they are bigger then those sneakers they have on. But from the sound of this lady the story is about she is tough enough to deal with the kids. I feel for here ex if he mess''s with her. - Reply to this comment

Of course. But you''''re not commenting on the issue, you said yourself you just like to write these things because you like to see how angry people get. And tht''''s so childish, it only makes me laugh. Which, I guess makes your attempt to anger people a failure.

- Shroud in this article underneath the teacher''s domestic dispute is the real need for school administration to protect themselves and children from potentially becoming target practice for a mentally unstable student or an adult perpetrator. GIVE'' EM GUNS I SAY!!

- I looked away at a man who said something weird to me in passing and got a full arm swing across the face. This happened visiting DC by the Smithsonian while I was pushing a stroller with two kids in it. When my son took Karate/self defense they said never avoid them a sign of weakness and you cant defend or avoid the hit or whatever!:) If they took self defense they could possibly disarm them. So they are being told to do the wrong thing!

- What was your editorial board thinking when they approved that headline?
How about "Threat of Domestic Violence Threatens School"
How about "Threatened Spouse Refused Protection By School System"
How about anything that smacks less of yellow-rag journalism and sensationalism?
Revolting. - Reply to this comment

- If this woman is so afraid of her ex that she needs to carry a gun to school...she has no right to have a job working with children that might be put in danger because of her divorce issues.
