Police: Off-Duty Officer Killed Six, Before Being Shot To Death; Wisconsin Town In Shock
- This will be dismissed as an isolated incident but the greater incidence of such events in this country says something about this country and its people. While we as individuals may not act in this manner the aggression of this society is seen everywhere....highways, shopping malls, etc. etc. etc. and we sit around and watch "reality" t.v. and graphic murder entertainment and our "news" services report on this entertainment marketing the concept to us like it''s normal. This nation is one big marketing scheme.

- I live about 25 miles from Crandon. Yes, the killer was a cop...that''s one of the things that made this story big national news. But aside from being a cop he was also a jealous male who decided to take revenge against his ex-girlfriend. It was a tragic event but it has not made me a cop hater, just as it has not made me a man hater. I just knew that you cop haters would relish this tragic event. My sorrow lies with the innocent victims.

- This is just sad. I feel for all the families and friends and for those who lost their lives. A terrible, terrible waste!

- A large part of my close family is from Crandon. You can all make this a soapbox for guns or against guns or whatever platform opportunists grab at. I would like to extend my condolences and prayers for the families and for the kids at the school. I lay the blame on a society that has no boundaries and teaches entitlement to its children.

- Just too sad, for words. May I offer my condolences to the family and friends, of the deceased... That young cop, was working too much... He worked full-time and part-time? When was he going to have a life?

- I''m just wondering, as according to the above report, why is someone that is not even of the legal drinking age supposedly enforcing those laws?
A twenty year-old deputy?
As a father of seven, I know that there is a dramatic change between the ages of 21 and 23 years. You ''grow up'' quite a bit during that short time.
I''m sorry to say this however, the child hadn''t matured enough to be carrying a badge. - Reply to this comment
- The news is full of officers who have stepped over the line! If you protect yourself from another citizen then you have a chance! If you protect yourself from a freak cop then you have just resisted arrest!Posted by CharlesDJohn at 09:47 PM
Indeed! There is this mentality that if an officer has stepped over the line, then he must have had good reason. There is this unfortunate mentality that officers can do no wrong. I probably would have though the same at one time, but I got to work around a lot of them and was able to hear many of the dialogues. I know how they can unjustly target people and feel that they don''t have to answer to anybody. That''s not to say there aren''t many fine officers, but authority has an effect on the mind, and it has to be checked. It has to be accompanied by maturity, and I don''t think it gets the attention it needs in law enforcement. - Reply to this comment

- why must it always be deamed...psychological? Does it make it easier for us to comprehend? To digest? This guy was nothing more than a LOSER who thought it better to take out six people so he wouldn''t have to die alone in his putrid miserable life. He was nothing more than a t_urd who didn''t deserve to remain on this planet and breath the air we do. For the unfortuante 6 who perished, my sympathy goes to their families, but reality is dead is dead. The positive, this *** isn''t going to have anymore thoughts of doing anything to anyone. There will be that much more air to breath, for those who deserve and want to remain living on this planet. Life will go on and this p_rick will miss out on it. All of it! Good riddens Mr. Killer. No tears shed for you. If we could only take the trash out (like this dung heap) before tragedy happens, oh what a wonderful world this would be.
