Shades of OJ! Some men view their girlfriends/wives as property. They feel perfectly justified in retaliating if someone "steals" what they view as their property. Of course, the women who they claim must also pay the penalty for not acknowledging the men''s ownership rights.

As a feminist, it''s sad to say that I think women were more respected before we became "equal." Many men now see us as rivals rather than partners. As such, they feel justified in turning their competitive aggression on women. The media adds fuel to the fire by constantly communicating the message that a woman''s main value is as a *** object. They reinforce this by sensationalizing *** acts and crimes. What would once have been considered pornography is now mainstream entertainment. And the sensationalism of local tragedies like this one become fodder to feed salatious appetites and to increase Nielsen ratings. The effect is to desensitize our society to crimes against women, but the constant barrage also legitimizes such crimes by making their portrayal a daily occurance rather than an infrequent anomaly. Kitty Genovese''s death would be buried in the back pages in today''s media, because there was no *** crime involved, rather than an event that once triggered national soul-searching.

Have a bad day? Get upset get a gun go kill someone. It''s the American way. Then everyone can stand around, shake their head and call it a tragedy. Nothing changes, we have to have our guns no matter what.

Someone needs to have a little compassion and humility here. Its so unpleasantly snd asssininely easy to sound immortal and glib in these posts. Its what real, honest to goodness, FOOLS do in their spare time.

This is a horrible tragedy-- lets call it that without the "comedy relief". ITS NOT FUNNY.

I am so very sorry for the dead and the wounded --and the unbearable heartache of the relatives and friends who must try to deal with the permanent loss and forever pain.

Horror, so much worse than a movie--try and remember that this no movie folks! it is real--unfortunately.

We must (MUST) find the compassion to treat this as something more than news/entertainment that we are supposedly so very free to make truly retarded and cheap comments about.

Have you ever lost your temper, way over the top and thanked God you were not able to manifest it in the moment? Horror.

Forget the "System". There is no "System"--and there never was. Don''''t bother to blame the system.
