This is not a hate crime. A hate crime is 6 black kids RANDOMLY choosing a white kid to beat up. The white kid had nothing to do with the nooses.

I DO think these kids knew the implications of their action. Kids are not dumb, They did not mark the black kid with a swastika, or the mark of the beast, or any other symbol, they chose a racist, hateful symbol, that was, is, and has always been directed AT BLACKS! This is how white kids get away with hateful acts, "OH it was just a prank, a joke, a mistake, surely they didnt know what they were doing" Well the days of assuming that people understand that it was a school prank, or joke, or mistake are long over, if they had lynched him to boot, would it still signal that they didn''t know what they were doing?
