Im for reducing the number of Rottweilers and Pit Bulls because the only reason to have one is to own a Weapon. They are bred as attack dogs and have the largest most provable pattern of unprovoked attacks on humans and other animals of any other breed.
If you want a nice watchdog, get a German Shepherd or a Lab. Want a friendly housedog, get a Collie or a Golden. Rottweilers and PitBulls, need to go period.
People name breeds of dogs by function or appearance. Its called a ''PIT BULL'' nuff said.
BUT, killing the animal like that is sadistic. This guy needs punishment and he needs to feel some pain.
He should have just called the police himself and told them what happened and ask to have to dog taken away and euthanized. It would have been simple, logical, and more humane. And he wouldnt be going to jail. INstead, hes made a news article for himself.

"Pete''s real name was "Pal." When the spunky pit bull made his "Our Gang" debut, a circle had been painted around his eye and would not come off."

Heaven forbid that this unstable person should ever have children... this kind of violence should not and will not be tolerated.
As far as the breed is concerned, I''ve known people to be seriously bitten by small dogs as well as big dogs, cats, little siblings....
All life is precious. If a persona can not properly train and take care of their pet, they have no business having one to begin with. Period.

Someone who would do this to a dog would likely do harm to humans as well given the chance. This low-life scum deserves no break, no pity. He should be locked up for a good long while and then kept on probation for many years with mandatory psychological counseling. He should also have to work for free at an animal shelter for several years.

This guy is a pathetic idiot.

Instead of dragging a poor animal who really didn''t know any better behind his truck to death, he should have gone after the owners of the pit bull.

Pit Bulls are notorious, to be sure, but it is the owners usually responsible for the actions of the dogs - not the dogs themselves.

This guy - and the owners of the pit bull should be tied behind a truck and dragged to their not regrettable ends. Ditto for anyone else who raises a pit or dobie to be mean.

Do you eat meat? Let me know. I do and am hoping for some fresh pork or venison here soon. Would be happy to share it with you.

I work in an emergency room and when a dog bite comes in we ask what kind of dog, most of the time it is a pit bull/pit bull mix. My husband was bitten, badly by the neighbors pit bull mix. I am not saying all pit bulls are bad but I would never own one. I seem to think that if you own a pit bull you must be a specail person to be able to keep them under control and keep them from being agressive. I don''t have that kind of personality, or knowledge to have a pit bull. I do fear them, I don''t want to be around them. Their reputation is bad and although there are some good ones out there I still don''t trust even the good ones. Dragging one behind your car only shows that that pit bull didn''t have a chance with an owner like that who obviously can''t control himself, never mind his dog.

As for the bad spelling--leave the guy alone, let him express himself. If you can''t understand what he wrote, so be it, he is expressing himself and that is the important part. Schools in this day and age don''t seem to push spelling correctly.

If this guy wanted to get rid of his Pit Bull, he should have taken it to the vet and had it put down humanely by an injection. As much as I do not trust or want to be around Pit Bulls, to shoot one and then drag it behind a vehicle is inhumane and he should go to prison for the longest time allowed.

Felly8: I agree with you. People who abuse animals and have short fused tempers...can also be a danger to an innocent child. I would not trust this man with a child.

How do normal, well-adjusted people react when their pet is killed by another pet? I can tell you: they call animal control; they get help from a trainer or behaviorist; they talk to more knowledgeable people and ask "Why did this happen, and how can I prevent it from happening again?" This guy didn''t do any of that. Instead, he went into a rage and inflicted unnecessary trauma and pain on a "dumb" animal, to "punish" it for a crime it didn''t even know it committed.

This is the same type of inhumane behavior that you see in the guys who shake crying babies to death, or who beat their wives to a pulp for "mouthing off." This is the type of guy who has to be in control of everyone and everything around him, and if he isn''t, he''s going to get violent. For you people lamenting the anger focused on this "mere dog killer," think about it. I, for one, am relieved the authorities stepped in before he had a chance to hurt a human being--and proud that so many people feel such outrage at his heinous acts.

I am not a fan of Pit Bulls, but torture of any living thing in this manner is inhuman. What is wrong with people?
