I feel this is a hate crime, yes, but it''s not racial in nature. This is a hate crime against the special needs community.

If the girl is, fact, "retarded" she''s not responsible for any part of this--she can''t knowingly choose to have relationship with this scum. They abused her and tortured her because they could. And because they thought no one would care about her. Or maybe because they were all dropped on their heads as children...I''m not sure.

The crime against the white couple was not determined to be a hate crime. The blacks involved had white friends, so the authorities reasoned that what they did to the white couple was not racist violence, just plain old non-newsworthy violence.
This crime was initially categorized as a hate crime but since the victim had a social relationship with one of her attackers, the authorities again reason that this is not a hate crime, but just another old domestic dispute.
Great logic.

darkmeat4,

How can you call this a non-story? Because the victim was black and the accused white? You are a SICK EXCUSE for a human being! This poor young lady was savagely beaten and abused, and you just assume it''s a scam! You are the lowest of the low, you SCUM_BAG!

I have been following this story since it was broken a couple of days ago and it has disturbed me to no end. Reading this blog today it was brought to my attention the murders of Channon Christian and Chris Newsome in Knoxville, TN in January 2007. Channon and her boyfriend Chris were carjacked and kidnapped by 4 people. Both Channon and Chris were beaten and raped repeatedly. Channon and Chris were Caucasian and the animals that did this were all black. Why did the story in Knoxville not receive the coverage that this case is currently receiving? I am a black person who is disgusted by both cases and I feel that Channon Christian and Chris Newsom deserved the same repect and sympathy fromt the media that they are giving the victim in West Virginia.

These 6 are nothing but human trash. It is time to put the trash in the ground and spend our money on something good instead of something evil.
The worms have to eat too.

When is enough really enough?

We blog. Talk amongst our friends. lament.

And watch as our country slowly implodes bit by bit. We can''t even say what our country stands for anymore.

Depending on where they are--these people can get a few months in jail, to 100s of years to an acquittal. They can get life and be paroled in as little as 10 years. Depending on the process in their state and the sympathy of the parole board or the judge and jury.

When is enough...really enough? When is it NOT okay for men to rape little girls and hang them in garages or cops to kill their pregnant Mistresses in front of their kids and throw them in lakes? When do we say stop it and really mean it? If all we do is write and complain or silently wait for a stronger voice than ours to complain--then we silently are part of the problem.

Things change when we have had enough. We march, boycott, call our leaders accountable--make the laws have teeth and make government enforce them. Such a time is upon us. I know this particular blog has nothing to do with the war--but it sort of does....One more way America is deteriorating while most of us look on in horror and shock. There will be a march in Washington on Sept 15. and buses are leaving to take you there. Go to sept.15.org and find out more.

because when enough is really enough--we will do more than post comments in a blog--we will get off our duffs and demand change.

Frankie Brewster charged with murder in 1994, served 5 years. WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM??? Don''''t get it.
Posted by ssm9451 at 10:31 AM : Sep 13, 2007

Frankie Brewster was charged in 1994 with first-degree murder, but pleaded guilty to lesser charges of manslaughter and wanton endangerment.

They "struck a deal" with a murderer. Sad to see that they let her go once. Maybe they''ll get smart this time and put her in prision for life w/o parole.

mariony,
thank you for your comment, finally somebody who calls things for what they are, regardless of color. We need more people like you. Moreover the article says that those 6 cockroaches had accumulated 108 criminal charges in total: what were they doing free out there? Why don''t we lock these repeated offenders away for good?

I didn''''t know Hindus were blue-black coloured. All the ones I''''ve seen are different shades of brown.

I should have been more explicit here and named a people by ethnicity or area and not religion. There are Hindus of all races and many Indians that are lighter than many "white Americans" Like Iraqis and Iranians, they run the gamut from extremely pale to very dark--even in Iraq and Iran, right now, you will note that some of the kids have blonde hair and blue or other light colored eyes, IN fact, this anamoly also occurs in Africa among black tribes, this is because the gene pool is essentially a toss of the dice. If it is in there, it may come out. The odds increase in favor of certain traits if they are bred in longer. Dominant gene theory. Yep. Some Indians (From Calcutta or elsewhere) can be extremely dark.

We always get down to color, don''t we?

Color had nothing to do with it. Ignorance, depravity, poverity, immorality and criminality had everything to do with it. BTW, I''m a black woman saying this.

If there were only one race/color of people on this planet, those people would find a way to degrade a so-called underclass within them by size, shape or hair color. It''s human nature to do this when folks are plain ignorant with low self-esteem. It''s the bully factor in its ugliest form.

Why we mickey mouse with criminals like this is beyond me. Rather than waste taxpayer dollars with long, drawn out trials, only to house these idiots for years to feed and babysit them, why not do what they do in some countries? Cut off the fingers that steal...cut off the *** that rapes...cut out the tongue that lies...let the victim''s family beat the perps to death...

We would still have crimes, but they would be far, far less. If a perp knows the penalty he faces, he''ll think 3 and 4 times before he does something stupid. We''d also save a bundle of money...

Thank you--I was referring to many of the Bangledeshis--some of their people have skin that can be very, very black--almost blue--, yet they will still have straight thin noses and straight, silky hair--(2 other traits of caucasian) Of course, then there are the many vibrantly very curly headed arabians--all kinds. The term Caucasian originally referred to the demographics of a certain group of people who lived or originated in the region of the Caucas mountains and Asia minor.

Both of you are referring to a minority of our service men. This story is not about Iraq nor Bush. These idiots would exist with or without either. You do not critique the whole cart as being bad apples when it is just a few. Perhaps other''''s found your post to be "sublte".
Posted by radiob at 12:26 PM : Sep 13, 2007

Actually, you or I don''t KNOW how many service men this refers to. But THIS story is referring to a fraction of our country men. Not all southern whites who live in trailers act this way--in both cases there is a rush to pigeonhole and make a point--which is precisely my point. No one condemned all soldiers but then again, no one should condemn all poor white southerners either. Same game, different approach. As for these people--they are evil--stop trying to act like any part of this country is HOLY and cannot be criticized. From Presidents to grunts--they are just people--some good some bad--all subject to scrutiny and yes discussion. It is not sacrilege. Save your super psuedo patriotism and self righteousness for the Iraq blogs.

radiob,

Re: "Both of you are referring to a minority of our service men."

You can minimize it as you like. I see it as a significant problem, and one that is not being dealt with adequately.

Re: "This story is not about Iraq nor Bush."

I saw an opportunity for some dark humor. Obviously a few people were interested in my comment, and I successfully highlighted an issue that is important to me.

Iraq is the poster child for our collapsuing society, in my opinion. Crime and punishment are definitely related.

The poor slob feelyfreely is just looking for attention again...and he got it! I suppose the type of negative attention he now gets makes up for not getting any as a kid. Let''s hope he finds his medication.

Why haven''''t we heard about this in previous articles. The way that this has been covered so far is that this was supposedly just some disgustingly horrific RANDOM act of inhumanity. What aren''''t they telling the public and why? For sensationalism? To whip up a public furor?

There seems to be more to the story then we are being "fed".

This fact was in every version of this story that I have ever read. Including the version where Bobby''s mom forced the girl to lick various parts of her body. This is probably how she was tricked into going to their home--given that it also was mentioned that she might be slightly retarded (she was in special ed) it is no mean trick to win her trust if she had a previous relationship with her.

On the other hand, domestic violence, is not always sexual. She could have been lured into his home or in his yard and been mistreated. If no crime is committed beyond hearsay--it is called domestic violence. For instance, if you come to my house and I for some reason, slap you--THAT is assault and domestic violence. some people want to grasp at straws--no matter the previous relationship--the mom lied about the girl being held and she was tortured in many ways. That is not disputable.
