What is most disturbing about the report is the fact that you felt the need to air it, yet months ago when a similar crime was committed on Mrs. Channon Christian and Mr. Christopher Newsom the major networks chose not to share it with the national television audience.

These two young Knoxville students were brutally raped, tortured, mutilated and murdered by five African-American men, yet the national news services chose to ignore it.

Is this due to the fact that this was a Black on White crime and not considered news worthy? Yet even a suggestion of a White on Black crime gets full exposure, even on a night that we should be remembering 9-11.

Media bias is appalling and shameful.

this if *** they want to cover this story to incite racism but i am sure the didn''t mention the brutal murder of

Channon Christian and Chris Newsom in knoxville tennesse by 5 black people.

check out that story and see how much our media is directed to what "they" want you to know. selective listening and reporting

go ahead and google search the names and you will see that this is more than a rare occurance.

Sy2502,
Firstly, No one cares what race you are or interested in knowing. Because its not about you. Its about the above article incase you went off the track.
All you need to do is READ what other Americans have written about their own country and issues on this forum. Now- are you saying that these people are lying about their experiences in America??
I have met some americans in my country and some of them being quiet honest, have told me how ''majority'' of White Americans hate colored people- especially when they see them succeed in their respective fields. For some Americans to admit that- its a big thing, but how do you expect other people to react to such comments?

Its hilarious how you call someone prejudice when you cant actually see what the whole argument on this forum is about. This poor girl is attacked, brutalsed and humiliated because of her SKINCOLOR. I will be prejudice to those who are prejudice to others. Eye for an Eye.
People are not stupid. They can see whats happenin in America becoz everythng is open now for the world to see wats going on with America: invasion/war on IRAQ, failure to help people in New Orleans, the ongoin Racism issues, and recently on the news a survey saying that America is the worst in the world for stress-related work enviroment where continuous bullying takes place.
Maybe you should conquer all the news channels and tell them how great and sanitised America is and all these problems and major issues are all in people''s heads.

whatithink,

I didn''t assert my opinion one way or the other on the issue- the only thing I did was to establish a reference to the story someone else mentioned in their post so that everyone (including yourself) could see what they were referring to. At least in my view, for anyone to have a well thought opinion on any subject, they should try and understand as much of all aspects as possible. Hence the link.

What it shows is that this type of thing can happen to and in, any race.

As for your sly comment regarding "one black victim too much"- if your intent was to highlight your inner bias- well congratulations, mission accomplished! In the future you might consider your own words, and how they reflect your true self, before claiming to know who or what anyone else is.

Canada without racism?????

The Toronto Star recently published its findings in an investigation into police profiling of Blacks to a lot of controversy in the city. The paper''s analysis of police records showed clear evidence of racial profiling. Blacks or people of African background who make up 8.1 per cent of the city''s population accounted for 23.3 per cent of the arrests, while whites with 62.7 per cent of the population had 58 per cent of the arrests. The most glaring evidence of racial profiling was in the number of blacks charged in after-the-fact offenses. More than a third (34 per cent) of all drivers charged with such things as failing to make a change of address on a license, driving without insurance or valid license, or driving while under suspension, were blacks. The Star also found that minor offenses, like simple drug possession, which ordinarily netted the offender a ticket to appear in court resulted, more often than not in the case of blacks, in arrests and booking at the police station. Blacks were also twice as often as whites to be held overnight for bail hearings.

I know that humans are capable of just about anything, we had a similar horrific case here in Kansas, (the colors were reversed though)but it still just stuns me when you hear stuff like this. I just can''t wrap my mind around it. I about fall apart if I accidentaly run over a squirrel, let alone torture a human being. I hope none of these people every walk outside of a cage for the rest of their lives. (Provided they are guilty, of course)

"Here we are again, in 2007, in the supposely UNITED states of america, we have a racial issue that is beyond someone''s dog pooppin on your lawn. all across the country we are divided by race, creed, and sexual orientation, but WE keep trying to promote to other countries now to be FREE, DEMOCRATIC, AND CIVIL????..." posted by lckmstr4u

Yeah, that is funny isn''t it?

I read over and over again in posts, how Americans think they are the powerhouse of the world and how they have the best military etc. BUT the real kicker is that they are so very far behind in everything else. They are obsessed with being FREE but are actually not free at all.

These white, ignorant, obviousely uneducated fiends should be tarred and feathered. To commit such a heinous and barbaric act on a young lady simply because of her color is insane. Yet they like milllions of other whites will risk death by cancer to bake in the sun to try and get as close to black as possible. All of these criminals are pale and ugly as sin and probably are jealous of her and the appeal of her brown color. How else can you account for such unprovoked obscene and hideous behavior.

As someone else suggested, all hell would have broken out if 6 black people had cut, stabbed, humiliated and raped a white woman for an entire
week, no less. The W. Va. police would have gone besserk and the media would have had no problem in plastering it all over the networks.

Look at the expressions on their faces. Five of them are long term ''crack'' users, the sixth is a user but is still new at it.

You are offbase with this one in my opinion. If you read ''whatithinks'' comments to me, then you would have a different slant on this, whatithink ''IS'' the wife and she and I have reached an understanding our respective positions.

mo005,

There are good and bad people everywhere, I agree. Even MLK said that he never experienced more hate than he did in Chicago.

Race was such an integral part of our country''s framework for so very long. There are still many lingering issues revolving around race. I don''t know how we can resolve them if we are not able to discuss things.
