Arizona School Says "Zero Tolerance" Policy Means Drawing Of Gun Merits Suspension
- I guess next will be someone getting suspended for pointing their finger at someone like a gun. Who''s to say if they are saying hello - or saying I want to shoot you?

- And, despite your best intentions, your odds of dying from a gunshot will increase from the moment that weapon enters your home, regardless of whether or not you were properly trained.

Perhaps, but I can promise you that because I own a shotgun that the chances of a burgler (or right wing loony) dying of a gunshot goes up a LOT more! - Reply to this comment
- In response to veteran71, you actually have the parties reversed, the kid would be suspended if he were thinking any positive things about the GOP, you know, they are all EVIL and responsible for all the ills in the world, etc.
That is the problem with many "liberal minded" thinkers - they believe you are allowed to think anything you want, as long as you agree with them. - Reply to this comment

- The liberals have overrun the public education system and news articles like this will be more and more common as a result.

Stupid.
It''s not liberals.
It is stupid people enforcing a stupid law.
It is FEAR.
More Americans get fed the fear krap and eat it all the time.
Turn in a kid like this and the teacher expects a pat on the back.

Get off your lib conserv krap. - Reply to this comment
- Sharpened sticks, huh? I''ll never think of a pencil the same way again.
I wonder how long its going to be before some kid points across the playground at a passing car and some other kid runs to the teacher screaming "Jimmy pointed his finger at me and I''m scared he''s going to get a gun and kill me!"
They''ll call him Jimmy "Gun-Fingers" Jones or some such nonsense. - Reply to this comment
- GunOwnerDan thinks "All schools should have a shooting range and teach kids how to safely and properly handle guns. Many innocent lives would be saved."
It''s certainly better if gun owners know how to safely clean, store, transport, load, aim, and shoot their weapons so they hit the intended target, but teaching kids to shoot at school will not necessarily save "many innocent lives". It will most likely have the opposite effect.
Cops are thoroughly trained and tested and retrained in the proper use of their weapons, and they frequently:
- fail to shoot when they should
- shoot when they shouldn''t
- fail to hit what they''re aiming at
- hit something or someone they didn''t aim at.
How much better do you think the kids will do?
Can you imagine the lawsuits that will be filed against the school after a kid who was "taught to properly use a gun" uses (or even mis-uses) that knowledge to kill someone?
If you want to own a gun, it''s going to have to be your responsibility to learn how to use it properly. And, despite your best intentions, your odds of dying from a gunshot will increase from the moment that weapon enters your home, regardless of whether or not you were properly trained. - Reply to this comment

Don''t laugh - this HAS happened. If you have a kid in public school, get him out of there now. The liberals have overrun the public education system and news articles like this will be more and more common as a result. - Reply to this comment
- "Zero tolerance" is a policy designed for and by, people with "Zero intelligence".
None of these stupid policies have helped to prevent school violence. The only thing they do is give the school administrators an opportunity to claim they are "tough of crime" and are "working diligently to keep the children safe". That''s total BS.
The schools'' job is to teach the children. They should teach them to not be violent. If they can''t do that, then they will have violence, and there''s nothing they can do to stop it. - Reply to this comment
