Family Enraged After Texas Megachurch Cancels Funeral Services For Gulf War Navy Veteran
- This is why I don't practice any religion.
How unbelieveably cruel. All you idiots throwing scripture around are EXACTLY why I will NEVER attend any church EVER. You make me sick to my stomach with your intolerance and smug attitudes.
I hope the family will get some peace. - Reply to this comment

I understand your view but exactly where is "the line"? Which sins are ok and which sins are not? (even in order to merit a Christian burial service). None of us is able to immitate Christ, no matter how hard we might try. This, perhaps, is why judgment is to be left up to God? - Reply to this comment

- But this "Church" did judge and that's NOT their place. If you're a Christian then it's not up to them to decide who is or is not worthy, it's up to god alone. As luvcomments rightly pointed out keeping to this standard there would be no one worthy of a Christian service.

It all comes back to drawing the " line " Absolutely, no human is without sin, and we are not to judge, but we are also not to condon sin . We must strive to be " imitators of Christ" and " obey " confesing our sins and to repent. The "line " is also why the church can not and should not perform same seks marriages - Reply to this comment

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
"male prostitute" = malakos = literally softness, slang for a boy or man used in temple prostitution for homosexual activity. "homosexual offenders" = arsenokoites = one who lies on a couch with a male.
1 Timothy 1:9-10 We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers--and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine.
"perverts" = arsenokoites (same word as 1 Corinthians 6:9).

So brilliant .............except you forgot we are all able to read the bible for ourselves. No-one is saying homosexuality is or isn't great or an abomination. What we are talking about is man judging man as opposed to being commanded to leave judgement to God. - Reply to this comment
- Oh wait...there's more (ha ha ha ha ha)
1 Kings 14:24 There were even male shrine prostitutes in the land; the people engaged in all the detestable practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites. [See also 1 Kings 15:12; 22:46; 2 Kings 23:7; and Job 36:13-14.]
Romans 1:25-26 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

There are many people who believe, probably correctly, that Paul's condemnation of homosexuality was as much directed at himself as the christian followers. I think his struggles with his sexual identity come out in his writings. I have no idea if he ever acted on his feelings of homosexuality, but I also have no doubt that those feelings did exist in him. - Reply to this comment
- This one is for all the people who think they know scripture......( ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!LOL!!!)
Leviticus 18:22 Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. [Read also verses 24-30.]
Leviticus 20:13 If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Deuteronomy 23:17 No Israelite man is to become a shrine prostitute. No Israelite woman is to become a shrine prostitute.
The "male shrine prostitute" was a homosexual. He is called a "dog" in verse 18, a nickname he received from the dog-like manner in which he debased himself with men.
Judges 19:21-23 So he took the man into his house and fed his donkeys. After they had washed their feet, they had something to eat and drink. While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, "Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have *** with him." The owner of the house went outside and said to them, "No, my friends, don't be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don't do this disgraceful thing."
