If you'll notice I was just responding to right wingers who were whining about not being able to discuss Obama on this site and I, very politely, directed them to the proper place to post their political views.

Moron.

How these fools turn tragedy into racist politics is truly amazing.
Sane heads will always prevail.
Today is a sad day in America.

Just what a fraud like you is counting on.

Sorry shutup, I thought we were on the same side of this argument, I didn't realize you were actually on yamuttya's side.

He's not on any side. Never is. He's just posting things to stir sh*it up. It's what gets him off. He insults people on all sides because he enjoys it. He has no side for himself. He's a troll.

Forget the theory about "torrential rains " from an earlier post. I live in Minneapolis and we are in the middle of a severe drought. There have been water restrictions a summer long because of the lack of rain. The river itself is way down from where it normally would be.

And as a final note, it is interesting that we cannot discusss Obama's proposed war of aggresion on Pakistan to find PMDs (Persons of Mass Destruction), how long before we hear the cries of "Obama lied people died"?
Posted by history_101 at 11:34 PM : Aug 01, 2007

Once again (since republicans seem to have trouble grasping facts) you can discuss Obama's speech, including where he speaks about Pakistan on the political page if you look at the story "Pure Horserace: Obama Talks Tough". The comment section is there for you to spew all of the right wing lies about him you care to post. To say, as you have been whining, that CBS is not allowing discussion of Obama and his speech about Pakistan is an out and out lie. Not surprising coming from republicans (in fact it's only a shock when a republican tells the truth...which I have yet to see), but it's still lying.

history_101,

You make excellent points, but you're casting your pearls before swine.

Don't expect much from a liberal, and you won't be dissapointed.

Once upon a time George Bush started an illegal war to make sure his family's interest in oil grubbing was protected, so he spent billions of dollars and sent over 3,000 brilliant young amaericans to their deaths fighting a psycotic culture to steal their oil, which will never be won, and practically no money was left for the citizens of the United States and their infrastructure...including bridges.

any QUESTIONS class?

Its amazing how for some people everything has something to do with Iraq. Including the fact that they are 30 years old, living in their mom's basement and have never had *** with a woman.

56% percent of the budget for interstste highway construction comes from user fees (gas tax and tolls) the other 44% comes from the federal budget.
As far as the "money for Iraq argument", from the FY 2006 budget of a $2,600 billion, $101 billion is for Iraq (1/26th), $34.7 billion goes to highways(1/75th) This amount is 6 billion more than FY 2001, (pre Iraq or Afghanistan) and a few billion more than was requested because the highway budget is a popular place for earmarks and so it is one of the most bloated parts of the budget.

Finally, Minnesota Dept. of Transportaion is responsible for inspecting the bridge and during a recent inspection stress fractures were noted on the 40 year old structure. But, I'm sure the fractures were caused by the war in Iraq.

And as a final note, it is interesting that we cannot discusss Obama's proposed war of aggresion on Pakistan to find PMDs (Persons of Mass Destruction), how long before we hear the cries of "Obama lied people died"?

During a national tragedy the extent of their logic (sic ) is to rant with profanity about nothing except their own shallow idiocy.

Thanks again nazi s(um for displaying your moronic naivete.
Seig heil, idiots, ( you have NO IDEA how hilarious you are !

This bridge was recently inspected. In addition, pile driving was going on in the area. Pile driving sets up vibrations; vibrations can set up oscillations and bring down the sturdiest of structures.

How sick and twisted is CBSNews that they let people comment on this tragedy, but we can't comment on Obama's plan to attack Pakistan.

CBS, your sense of proportion is warped.

The speech that Obama made does have a comment section. Look in the "pure horserace" portion of the political page or look a little lower on the politcial page itself and you'll see that the reason they don't have a comment part on one story is that they do have one on the other version of the same story. Of course I would not expect a republican like you to bother to gather all of the facts before attacking. As in Iraq for example. Or perhaps you're just making up something to complain about....again...as usual...

SWEET!!!!

Let's see.. they pay people to look for signs of possible Bridge Weakening/Collapse...

There's ALWAYS signs. We've been making bridges for 100's of years.

So... instead of taking care of the Highways...

the money is being spent on Iraq.

you people sit behind your crumb encrusted keyboards and pass judgment on people you don't know with facts you can't confirm. Pray for the souls of the lost and not ye cast the first stone lest ye be judged. why can't we all be civil and extend the benefit of the doubt just as you would want it to be extended to you?
