Your Early morning news stated that this bridge collapsed during the peak of 'rush-hour' - and that a school bus filled with children 'teetered' on the edge as rescue workers frantically rescued the children. This are all hyped-up lies. The bridge collapsed AFTER rush hour. The school bus was NOT teetering on ANYTHING and a SINGLE MAN opened the back door of the bus and the children exited by themselves.

If you can't report the TRUTH on this simple event, how can anyone believe you when it comes to more complex issues like immigration and Iraq?? No wonder your ratings are in the toilet !!

There was another bridge that collapsed in Oklahoma on May 28, 2002, resulting in the deaths of 17 people & several horses...a tug boat slammed into bridge supports of the Kerr Navigational Bridge over the Arkansas River causing half of the I-40 bridge to collapse into the water..

What a horrible tradegy... Billions being spent overseas and our own infrastructure being neglected. Yes the bridge was up for inspection later, but it was 40 years old....
I feel for those involved.

This is definitely a tragedy and I'm glad it's getting coverage. I am disappointed with a lot of the television coverage throwing out numbers of dead and giving opinions on whose fault it is without enough information to base it on. One fox news anchor said he thought it looked like criminal negligence to him and asked an expert to confirm that assumption. If there is no new information and you wish to continue showing video footage, please stop the mindless commentary and enjoy some silence. We can see from the images what's going on, we don't need you to ramble about the obvious. This is not directed towards CBS, but all news agencies. I'm also sick to death of all the finger pointing. There are still bodies floating down the river and we're already arguing about who's going to fry for this. We spent tens of millions of dollars and years of time to find out who was to blame for the twin towers coming down... with only one conclusion, terrorists.
If as much energy went into fixing problems as it did into finding someone to blame, we'd get soo much more accomplished. Wake up PEOPLE!!!

Although it's not the case here, it's kind to scary to think that a barge bumping into a bridge can cause a major catastrophe and many deaths. That many people's lives depends on the barge captains staying alert and sober is not a reassuring thought.

It is truly amazing isn't it? It is amazing how many sickies, racists there are in America. Also it is quite pathetic how no matter what the story is about, people always bring politics into it. Thank God none of the newly constructed Mass Transit system suffered any victims. New and safe mass transit systems backed by the Bush Administration all over the country which have flown in the face of lobbyist for oil have suffered set-backs in recent news. This trajedy would never have happened if we would have supported our beloved President Bush in his effort to get us off of foriegn oil. We need to take advantage of the new safe Mass Transit Systems put at our doorsteps by the Bush Administration. Bush really is trying to get us out of the Middle East Conflict. His efforts toward getting us off of Middle East Oil have been ignored and you can see what has happened because people just keep on driving their personally owned vehicles.
