Comments on: Vendor Arrested For "Impeach Him" Buttons
Maryland Retiree's Anti-Bush Buttons Attract Supporters ... And Police
- Guy gets warned because vendors are complaining, he's overtly aggressive, and has no permit. Then, when he gets arrested, it's all about 'freedom of speech'.
Bull. He was told to stop, and flaunted his wares anyways. He deserves what ever he gets as punishment.
I'm all for free speech, but not at the expense of breaking rules and laws to do it. You are entitled to your opinion, but don't be breaking the law to force it down my throat. - Reply to this comment

- Hear is more evidence that the Republicans don't play by the rules..... This guy has a right to free speach. He is not making a ton of money selling these pins, so leave him alone. I hope his supporters get together and hire this guy a lawyer then band together to "impeach" their city council.

- If this had been a pro-war/pro-Bush nut job peddling badges that promoted the illegal Bushie war, I doubt any action would have been taken to stop him. The fascist police who are only too happy to go after anyone who dares speak out against the illegal Bushie war need to be be stood up to.

- Goodie!!! Great PR for everyone...the ones who love freedom of speech and the ones who wish it would go away!! Win-win. Hauling a 74 year old man off a public shopping area under the guise he wasn't properly licensed looks great!!! Smacks of making the Bush protesters stand miles from an appearance so as not to give the impression Bush has people not happy with him taking the time and trouble to show up. The little general thinks of everything, huh? 18 months and counting.

Rick, I am close to his age and I make this observation, Both of us are old enough that we don't give a flip. If we feel strongly about something, we can say it. We don't lose very much at crunch time. Younger folks have to worry about making someone angry at them. Ppl can get angry at me, its no skin off my nose. I try not to offend but I don't worry about it. - Reply to this comment
- What happened to Freedom of Speech? This is political, I don't care what the mayor calls it.

- Nixon would have been impeached but resigned and told us that he was resigning as I watched it on TV as it happened. I didn't think it right he got pardoned.
Bush does as he pleases on the people's money. So he put his friends in key places so he can't be impeach as friends don't turn on him. What a mess.He should get off his arse and read the constution that he took an oath to uphold. He thinks he is above the law but noone is. So he must face the music and come clean. End his lies. This nation trained the ones our boys and girls are fighting in the middle east.Yep the people's money. It is over oil as well. I am just a layperson. - Reply to this comment

An insurgency, or insurrection, is an armed uprising, or revolt against an established civil or political authority.(Wickpedia)
The Insurrection Act of 1807 is the set of laws that govern the President of the United States of America's ability to deploy troops within the United States to put down lawlessness, insurrection and rebellion (Also Wickpedia)
So exactly how are you claiming that President Bush is an insurgent. - Reply to this comment
- "Officials said kicking him out has nothing to do with politics but with
fears that the atmosphere fostered by McConnell and his supporters would create a safety hazard"
Bald_faced lie. And I will say that to his face. - Reply to this comment

Maybe you are right about treason, but if u read the Insurrection Act, Bush is in the act of insurrection. Just a small portion of it, just in case u cannot find it:
(1) so hinders the execution of the laws of that State, and of the United States within the State, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or
(2) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws. - Reply to this comment

The Constitution applies only to American citizens, it is strictly a liberal trait to apply it's protections to non-Americans. If that was not your point then make one instead of ranting. - Reply to this comment
- That d.a.r.n Constitution. The neo-cons could protect us better if we just got rid of it.
It's always getting in the way and they're just trying to protect us from the terrorists! fer crist sake! - Reply to this comment
- I sure do believe in freedom of speech but the man simply has to follow the rules and buy a permit to sell merchandise. Once he does that, and I'm sure he will, there's absolutely no reason why he shouldn't be allowed to continue selling the buttons.

- Question: Why was it so easy to impeach Nixon (for wiretapping), and Clinton (for a personal indescretion), but nearly IMPOSSIBLE for someone who has caused the DEATHS of thousands of soldiers and Iraq citizens alike? Does congress tell us one thing and Bush another??

Nixon was not impeached, he resigned peior to it and was pardoned by Ford. - Reply to this comment
