If you want CHANGE... you have to make it happen... the people have to make it happen. Instead of going on vacation somewhere NICE, go to Palestine... and spend your dollars there trying to help the people in that region. Economics play a big part in this... if Americans help the Palestinians to better their living conditions and improve their infrastructure this would be a positive step in the right direction, and would improve relations with other Middle Eastern Countries opposed to America. Send care packages to needy families in that area, befriend a Middle Eastern family, learn about the religion and culture. This would pave the way for more understanding and open the lines of communication and hopefully help resolve some of the problems on a grass roots level. It's a start. I am planning a trip myself to this region next year. Would anyone like to join me?

The American/Israelie Elite DO NOT want change.

Therefore, NO CHANGE. We The People have NO SAY in our Government.

Lord Bush and KING Cheney are Planning 9/11 Part 2: The American Empire Strikes Back.

America is a FASCIST NATION. BUSH DID 9/11. Jesus is a SUN GOD. The American/Israeli Elite RULE EVERYTHING. ZEITGEISTmovie.com

Asbestos is so well known to be bad. I have been trying for years to get my insulating paint that is used around the world to replace that dangerous material. Why do we as a nation allow bad behavior to continue for so long until someone famous gets nailed. preact.com has this kefa coating that reduces the temperatures to protect from heat and to protect from lung damage.

I wish you had been there when it happened, it was not 'little'... and it was a very frightening situation. And as anti-the Iraq war as I am... New York City still has to contend with protecting itself... on every level. It's just the way things are right now, no sense re-hashing the past now, and name calling. The country will do it's best I am sure to try to improve it's public opinion Worldwide and do the right thing with regards to the Middle East situation, and it will have to protect itself, that's reality. It's too late to simply lay blame now. Be PRO-ACTIVE, why don't you fly over to Iraq and help out, or protest, or visit Palestine and try to bring peace to that region. EVERYONE SHOULD FLY OVER TO THESE PROBLEM AREAS AND DO SOMETHING, rather than complain.

The city needs extraordinary EMERGENCY EVACUATION systems in place for emergencies of every kind. TaxiCabs and buses should be equiped with battery operated radios, first aid kits, water, blankets, oxygen kits, flashlights, and emergency kiosks should be placed on every street corner, with directions for evacuation out of the city from each point in the city, and shelter areas should be set up in the event of an emergency. The loudspeakers could broadcast instructions to the people on the streets, and give them information about the emergency. In the interest of the publics safety, the city has to implement these procedures, and many more in order to aid in the event of another emergency situation. NYC needs more funding to put these procedures into place IMMEDIATELY. If you had been in this situation today, you would be agreeing with me regarding these procedures. It was a very frightening situation around the Grand Central Terminal area.

When you have as many people in one small area, as is the case in Manhattan, you need to have BIG BROTHER around, in the event of an emergency. NYC is the USA's biggest target insofar as terrorism is concerned. Luckily this was not terrorist related, yet it still calls to attention the need for emergency evacuation procedures. And if it takes video cameras, and LOUDSPEAKERS, and a city run broadcasting system piped into the loudspeaker system that would guide the public in regards to evacuation, then this type of system has to be put into place. If there were a central command center with cameras everywhere in the city streaming video to this command center and loudspeakers for communication purposes to the people on the streets escaping an emergency situation, then this would be a good thing for the city.

***

Yes it was scary I'm sure but what can you really expect from the government? Even if there WERE loudspeakers as someone recommended the govt would still need time to investigate and discover what the explosion was.

I chalk this up to "sometimes *** happens" and unless everyone wants "Big Brother" watching our every moves there will be times of fear and confusion like this one.

NYC should install LOUDSPEAKERS at the main commuter terminals inside and out and on the exterior of buildings... so that emergency instructions can be BROADCAST to the crowds who are running - evacuating a dangerous area in the city. How about large TV SCREENS that could scroll instructions and also serve as loudspeakers.... they have these types of large screens in the city now for advertisers. Why not put them up on buildings throughout the city for news reports and emergency reports, with backup MOUNTED LOUDSPEAKERS. Everyone in New York City should be informed of emergency evacution procedures and should always be prepared with a battery operated radio for news reports. This is just one of many things that the city should look into. Todays explosion in the Grand Central Terminal area on the Eastside, was frightening!

my daughter had just walked out of Grand Central Terminal in NYC... when the explosion went off... smoke was in the air, buildings shook.. and thousands of people were yelling and running on the streets, trying to evacuate the area.. it was a very very scary situation... everyone thought that it was a terroist bomb. There was CONFUSION... and no ones cellphones worked.
No one knew what had happened. The city has to get more organized with regards to emergency evacuation procedeures.
