- With that much cash the Vatican could have bought a lot of hookers for their wayward priests.

- A catholic woman I met in college once told me she always carries a rosary in her pocket to protect her from getting caught cheating on her tests. Hmmmm....

- bo_leggs...Perhaps the catholic church was the one Jesus founded....I don't know...I wasn't born yet. However, even if it was, that does not mean the catholic church is now not corrupted. Maybe Jesus is hanging his head in sorrow and crying over this. Who knows.
As for a previous poster who asked why those abused by the church didn't come out of the woodwork earlier. As a kid raised in a catholic family my parents would have slapped me across the face if I told them something like that and said "How dare you!!". - Reply to this comment

In fact the Catholic church has a continuous history of truly shameful times, has it not?
The Borgia and Medici Popes are just a couple of so many examples.
Pray your heart out, but it will be of no help - Reply to this comment

- Blame the Romans. This has nothing to do with Christians. Jesus spoke Aramaic, not Latin. Nor was he European. It's all fake baloney written in Rome. The real Prophets never wrote anything. If you are so stupid that you can't see the greater power and knowledge of what made the universe or the final out come of evil behavior... I doubt reading will help you.

I know in our Archdiocese (not Los Angles), there is a board of lay professionals, doctors, phychiatrists, lawyers, housewives, and clergy who are given the complete details of any and all accusations made against any clergy or religious person in the Archdiocese, and this includes accusations against lay employees of the Archdiocese. The Board comes to a decision and the Archbishop acts on their decision. Will this stop all abuse? No way, because people will be people. Will this stop the "cover up"? It better or the resulting lawsuits will be a disaster. In the end the abuse will be diminished, just as abuse in the workplace has been diminished by lawsuits. - Reply to this comment
- Zertrat, I don't know where you got your information, but the Catholic Church is The Church that Jesus founded on the Apostles with Peter as it's leader. No doubt you are another "enlightened" genius like tuckerdfw who spouts out their totally screwed-up facts that they "learned" but can't back them up with any real proof. But I understand, this is what pumps you up and makes you feel powerful, and people will look up to you for your genius and insight. Go ahead, spout out your misinformation, and enjoy your 15 minutes of fame. I feel sorry that you are so pathetic that you think you are enlightening the masses. I'll pray for you and ask that someday you will gain true wisdom.

- People who hate the Roman Catholic Church can vent their rage all they want, freedom of speech is our right. As a Catholic I am not disturbed by their vile remarks and historically this is not new. The first anti-Catholics really meant business, they fed us to the lions, and crucified the first Pope upside down. Now that was when things were really bad! Finally the Bishops have taken a stand and all Catholics applaud their current stand in this abuse scandal. This is truly a shameful time in the history of the Church, but the Roman Catholic Church will survive. Let us all pray for the victims and support every effort to help all who have suffered sexual abuse.

- Families with good intentions are tithing the church to support blwjobs on children by priests.
I feel sympathy for all the families sucked in by this scam. Can you folks not see that the hierarchy is more concerned with covering up blwjobs financially than with morality or with families? I'm an evidence type of guy. Give me evidence that the church wants to get rid of sexual perverts. Have i seen any news item related to that topic?
Power always abuses individuals. I send my sympathies to all the Catholic families who believe in their heart that the church is doing right for them. God, that is sad to hear. So wrong, so wrong. How much money have you payed to the church? How much of that is part of the $660 million spent on child ***?
