Late term abortions should be banned. Women who choose to do this are irresponsible. They have 5 months or better to make this decision. Waiting until the last trimester to abort is insane. Clinics should be held accountable for late term abortions. I totally believe the decision to carry a child or not is one that should be respected and legal, but waiting until the last trimested is where they need to be stopped.

Don't bother ranting and foaming at the mouth in acidic reply...I'm moving on and won't be responding. I don't care what the history of the South represents to many, or that this is a hypocrisy pro-life people have to live with in this matter. Late term abortions need to be banned.

skyk,

'The SAME people that gave us Jim Crowe are the same people who want to make decisions for the Woman and her Doctor.'

Are you saying that the Democrats are the people who want to make decisions for Women and their Doctors? Because it is a simple historical fact that it was the Democratic Party in the south that proposed and enacted the Jim Crow laws, and that it was in large part due to the Republicans in Congress that the 1964 Civil Rights Act was passed. And it is Democrats that have made this law in Louisana.

I can not believe how many people are for late term abortions and are against capital punishment. Kill innocent kids, and let murderers live. The death penalty is not near as bad as "... puncturing or crushing the skull."

Those of you in the REAL world who aren't fimular with Southern Fascism here's a PERFECT example. Of course those American's who are Pro Choice do NOT want to "crack 'em in the head" but as was proven during the 40's and 50's when these God Awlful Creatures were defending lynching and bombing, it's VERY effective with those who want someone to hate... I believe you will find the Taliban has developed the mentality to it's highest level.

Issues over abortion do not split cleanly along party lines, nor along religious lines. You will find sincere religious (and non-religious) people on both sides of the arguement. Since that is true, can we keep the discussion to the ethical and philosophical grounds, and not get into religious in-fighting for once?

This is PURE garbage and YOU know it! The SAME people that gave us Jim Crowe are the same people who want to make decisions for the Woman and her Doctor. If you can't at least be honest about it, let's not discuss this. There are people out there attempting to use science and education to make peoples lives better and to make Abortions unnecessary, a few of them ARE Real Republican's, but the Republican Party as I knew it doesn't exist today. The Republican Party that's there today is FASCIST to the core and wishes to divide people and to FORCE them to do things as THEY think they should. Let's at least be honest with each other here.

I have lived amoung these people my entire life and for the life of me I can't figure them out. They, for whatever reason, feel its necessary to shove their religion down everyone's throat and the FACT that their approach only serves to divide us even more doesn't seem to phase them. It's like the situation with their "Don't do it because God say's so" approach to *** Education. Study after study after study shows CLEARLY and without doubt that their way DOES NOT work. Now add that to the FACT that a recent study showed as CLEAR as it could be that another Approach, an approach that does NOT tell teens how to think, DOES work and works very well indeed. So do they step forward and embrace the plan that OBVIOUSLY is the BEST? NO!! They don't care about success UNLESS they can bring the Iron Boot of the Religious Reich down on people's neck. To those who say they have changed from the days when they taught "Equal but Different" in our schools, you just are hiding your head in the sand. They HAVE not changed.

News Flash:
"Now Bush is warning that there would be " mass killings on a horrific scale", if the US was forced to withdraw. He made some 30 references to al-Qa'ida on Thursday and brushed aside suggestions that the invasion had encouraged its growth."

When will the spineless Dems and join a few courageous true conservative Repulicans to Impeach Cheney and Bush! These lying SOBs are running our nation into the ground.

More fear and hate, endless War based on lies, we are less safe, wasted $500 BILLION, massive national debt and trade deficit....

They PARDON Libby for EXACTLY the same crimes that they IMPEACHED Clinton for - OUTRAGEOUS HYPOCRISY.

STOP these evil crazy NeoCons who hijacked the GOP! Our founders would want us to IMPEACH Cheney and Bush for LYING us into this War. (and they DID LIE - I researched everything I could, and the more I did the more obvious it became!).

Why do we continuely refuse to call these people what they really are????? They are religious terrorist's at best! They are trying to control women. They want it to where we have an abandoned child on every street corner in this country! There belief's are not ruled by common sense that should tell them we are on a collision course with over population. They are ruled by their religious belief's that have no basis of truth not even in the bible! We have been harboring the same kind of group we are supposedly fighting against in Iraq for years! In fact, Bush has let this bunch have uncontroled and has even encouraged them to do their dirty work! People need to wake up to what these people are trying to do! It isn't only abortion they are trying to ban it is birth control period. We are talking about the kind of people who are trying to ban every form of birth control. They have and will set this country back into the dark ages with their ignorance! Any way you cut it, they are as bad if not worse than the people we are supposedly fighting against. They see all forms of birth control as abortion! They are extremely sick people who need to be stopped.

Where is the religion or politics in this?
This bill is not end abortions only late term abortions and if a mothers life is in danger the mother can still have the abortion.
By the way how many people bought goods Made in China recently where they mandatory abortions after the birth.
Checked where those spark plugs, oil filters, air filters, gas filters etc. are made lately?
It is hypocritical to purchase goods that support indirectly mandatory abortions.

First, consider that it is Louisiana - always near the bottom in education, standard of living, and healthcare. One thing it is tops in is christian hypocrisy. Louisiana has few abortion clinics, poor *** education standards, and abysmal access to the morning after pill - so late term abortion needs are a direct result of their actions. They can find time to keep a woman from a medical procedure, but cannot find the moral courage to fix New Orleans.

We have allowed the wacko religious freaks to rename a pure medical procedure for maximum shock value and, as you can see if Louisiana, it worked. If the state actually has a legitimate stake in the life of the fetus then why do they abandon it once the child is born? Does Louisiana insure proper nutrition, health care, housing, education, and parenting? If not, this argument is hypocritical. Don't worry though, Senator Vitter will show his fellow Louisianians and the country what high moral, christian standards truely are.

Why are we talking about Republicans in connection with this? The Governor of Louisiana is a Democrat and she signed it into law. The majority party is both houses in Louisiana is the Democratic party. If the Democrats in Louisiana wanted to stop this law, they could have easily voted against it.

How many women/pregnancies is this law going to affect anyway? I just can't see that many abortions being performed at this late stage of the game and when there is one, it's for the mother's health.

The only reason for this law is to whittle away at Rowe vs. Wade. They'll get this done, then look for the next step in the series to get abortion banned altogether.

You are overlooking the fact that an abortion kills an innocent child. The State has a legitimate interest the health and welfare of everyone, including the unborn child. And this has nothing to do with religion.

ROFLMAO Right!! I'd suppose you think Bin Laden is just another citizen too! ROFLMAO IF this wasn't about RELIGION you MORON we'd be working to make Abortions UNNECESSARY instead of trying to Ban them. We'd be attempting to make the Morning After Pill available to EVERY American Woman! Nazi's and Religious EXTREMIST are the ONLY people on the planet who attempt to "Help" people by running them underground... back to coat hangers and quacks! God but you Southern Nazi's are the worst! Sieg Heil Y'all.

It inserts the Christian right wing between the woman and her doctor, making a religious decision, as opposed to a medical one. The interference of any religion in such issues as an individuals health is disgusting.

Dear RandalDS, you need to "get a life" and stop trying to "take lifes".

You're so filled with "hate" and ZERO compassion and it's because you are highly contaminated with "liberal ways".

A citizens post a VERY real concern about the constant involvement of the Religious Reich in our lives and especially in the lives of Women and what does this nazi defender of the Reich do? He attacks our history, our greatest leaders. The poster want's MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS and the WOMAN making decisions about her health and this MORON say's he's taking a LIFE. This nation can not long endure if we do NOT stop these fascist. IF you folks think the Taliban is the ONLY group out there capable of RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM, you do not know much about the White Knights of the KKK. You do not know much about the history of the Religious Reich. Better wake up America. Sieg Heil Y'all.

"I done got pregnant, Momma. Boo hoo. Condoms? What are those? Contraception? What's that? My boyfriend Bubba said I couldn't get pregnant if we did it standing up." Why is birth control so
difficult for some women to understand? Hello. It's the 21st century. If you're not married, why are you having unprotected ***?

So now a doctor in LA has to make a decision between what can kill a woman and "health problems".
If the "health problem" becomes permanent or it leads to the mother's death later on, well, that's too bad.
No woman ever gets pregnant just so she can have an abortion on purpose. That's why they need to decide this in private or with their doctors.
There's no need to keep watch over them as if they were criminals on probation until the baby comes out.

MISLEADING HEADLINE AGAIN!

They didn't ban late-term abortions! They only banned ONE procedure, D&E (aka partial birth abortion). What's the next headline "The Sky is Falling" or "CBS Fires Web Editors Who Persistently Fake and Sensationalize News"?

COME ON!!!

Republicans are classic deceivers. They pray on the good nature of Christian Americans, coming to small towns for prayer meetings, talking lots of Biblical stuff, acting horrified at abortion pictures, singing "God Bless America" with flags waving in the background. The reality of it is that deep down inside they are lovers of money, the likes the world has never seen, and they will do ANYTHING to manipulate the people. Their "works" scream "Lovers of Money," not "Defenders of the least of our brother."
