Constitutional Amendment Would Have Let Voters Decide Whether To Ban Gay Marriage
- jankebenz,
Ah, yes, Paul. So you also believe what Paul instructs in 1 Timothy 2:9:
"Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments."
Last time I checked, very few Christian lived according to Paul's teachings. Are they all sinners / bad Christians too? - Reply to this comment

Yes, indeed he would, kimoco. I am old enough to remember the faces twisted with have lining the walkway to the front doors of the first high school that was forced to integrate in Alabama. The same folks that stood out there and screamed obscenities at those black kids just trying to go to school, are the ones screaming about gay Americans having the same rights as other Americans. The majority of Alabaman's wanted the kids kept out of school. They lost then and they will lose now. :o) - Reply to this comment
- jankebenz, so do you have a direct line to Jesus? For He did not even mention homosexuality, much less same $ex marriage in the Bible.

- Speaking of Jesus, Singinrick, er I mean soldat44, you have to wonder how it is that while Pat Robertson and his ilk are railing against these states up in the Northeast "going against the word of God" and all that, the Census bureau tells us that Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont have the lowest divorce rates.
You also have to wonder how the so-called "Bible Belt" including Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas, have the highest divorce rates.
On the surface of it, looks like in order to protect the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, the Bible Belt had better put the gay marriages on the books there. It seems to be having a positive effect in the Northeast.... - Reply to this comment

Amen to that! - Reply to this comment
- soldat44, why do you automatically assume I am not a Christian? Because you do not understand the words of Jesus, you only understand defending discrimination. Something He would not approve of.

- Minority overcame the majority.

Today's vote - by those who were elected to represent the Massachusetts electorate - was 151 to 42. How does that size of a majority equal a minority?
To be honest, it might have been nice to see this come up as a popular vote, just to see opponents of equal rights squashed. After all their hard work, they could only get 125,000 signatures. With a population of 6 million in MA, only 1 person in 60 was opposed enough to equal rights to even sign the petition. - Reply to this comment
