First, my condolences to the family. You are in my thoughts and in my heart. Most people won't ever find answers to why this happened, but try to find comfort in love. Love for the person Kelsey was and everything you shared together.

Second, these types of crimes couldn't anger me more. How this man that killed her, the poster child for scum of the earth, could so easily take someone's life, is beyond me.

But we must all take responsibility here. Take responsibility with pride. Protect the people you love before it's too late.

Besides emerging details of the case, we are hearing so much of how to prevent things like this. But why does it take a tragedy for people to take action.

Doesn't it tear you up so bad inside, where you think about this happening to your loved ones? The idea is almost inconceivable, but the feeling is real.

I know it hit a deep place in my heart. The first thing I did this morning was make a list of everyone I know and I made it my responsibility to make sure the ones I love know how to defend and protect themselves.

If you feel the same way, check out:

Look at it this way, for those that say they don't beleive in God. At least if you believe and it is true then your safe. Your way has no safety net to it...Duh!! To the family may God give you what you need everday to get though.

Ladego did not hear about the other missing young woman. Not much publicity but I'm sure we'll hear more soon. Like I said all young women need a means of self defense these days, they are little match for much stronger and determined men otherwise. They need something to help even the odds or buy time.Hopefully all turns out well for the other missing woman.

Error correction:
You cannot prove that god doesn%u2019t exist any more than believers can prove that he/it DOES exist.

To the family of Kelsey Smith:

My heart-felt sympathies.

To all who advocate immediate and various types of torture/punishment to the man charged in this case:

I will assume that you mean after he has been proven guilty, otherwise just how would you feel about yourselves if he were to be, irrefutably, proven innocent?

To all posters claiming god exists and directly intercedes in our lives:

You consistently state your beliefs, unequivocally, as facts. And at the same time accuse others of being ignorant, stupid, or even liars, because they see things differently.

This is, to say the least, extremely disingenuous. To quote an oft-used phrase %u201Ceveryone is entitled to his/her own opinions/faith but none are entitled to their own facts%u201D

To all atheists:

You cannot prove that god doesn%u2019t exist any more than believers can prove that he/it doesn%u2019t exist.

To all agnostics;

I salute your honesty. I admit that I am biased here because I am an agnostic also.
Hopefully this position is only temporary and as our knowledge evolves, perhaps we can someday find the answers.

ANOTHER TEEN MISSING NEARBY:Fox news said 4 miles from where Kelsy Smiths body was found ANOTHER girl, 17 yrs old, came up missing May 4th. They are going to comb the area closer & look for her body as well. I wish we had a photo & publicity for this girl too. I grew up in the Kansas City & Overland Park area, I live out west now. I really pray they give this girl the same media & law enforcement that they did Kelsey.

My heart goes out to the family.
Karma, cause and effect, is inescapable. We become impatient. Anger arises from a sense of injustice & clouds judgement. This man caused suffering, people want him to suffer in turn. They do not believe he will suffer unless they intervene. In fact, he wil suffer the results of his actions if people intervene or not. He cannot escape his own mind. He will die. Sooner due to execution, or later, due to old age. The point is not to create MORE bad Karma. You put water on a forest fire, not more wood. He should be imprisoned, put away from society. To live with knowledge of the deed may be worse than death. Imprisonment puts a halt to the runaway train of negative actions because you are putting brakes on aggression and protecting society at large. To execute him, creates more bad Karma, both for him and the executioner. You are forcing a Judge to make a decision to take a life. That is not fair to the Judge. Why should he be forced to take on this mans negative Karma ? Everyone believes they are justified, but from an outside point of view, there are no reasons, you just see people shooting each other. The point is compassion. It's easier to feel compassion for the poor girl and harder to feel it for the maniac who killed her. But the Sun shines equally on all. Rather than create more hate, create less. Create the Love this girl obviously was. That would be a more fitting tribute to her memory than a frenzy of retribution.

This sad story is just another example of why it is very important to always be prepared and always be aware of your surroundings!
