sys2502..your rabid post just proved my point. Don't you think your time is better spent in 'other' things than just lingering around 'religion' themed topics?

Go out and save a whale..get a boyfriend/girlfriend..enjoy your life..your wasting it on hate.

if most athiest do not beleive, why do they consume so much time in discrediting GOD?
Posted by xzavierbrown at 07:15 PM : May 22, 2007

I hate to disappoint you, but atheists have much better things to do with their time than waste it on god. Religious people on the other hand, can't seem to pass on any opportunity, even the most inappropriate, to proselytize (see singingrick)

*last, i think most do it out of guilt, if a survey is conducted most athiest became athiests because they are just have own personal agendas other than i.e. homosexuals, they find comfort in attacking.
Posted by xzavierbrown at 07:15 PM : May 22, 2007

Really? Where is that survey? Or did you make it up because that's what YOU think, more likely? People are atheists because they don't see any convincing evidence of god. My parents were bible-bashers, and did their best to make me like them, but I remember from my earliest memories, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't buying the whole idea, it didn't make any sense to me.
Also, not clear why you are bringing up homosexuals (maybe a freudian undertone?), since there are both atheist and devout homosexuals. And for political agenda, don't get me started about the mingling of religious fundamentalism and politics, because I could write volumes about that!

xzavierbrown, man you are dum. "why do atheist spend time discrediting god?" what god? thats like saying why do you discredit that there are 21 virgins waiting for the terrorists, so why do you discredit allah?I guess that makes you muslim? ........try using your brain. Another thing, it's not atheists that go around raping children (catholic priests) and it's not atheists that go *** mongering (jimmy swaggart), it's not atheists that founded the website "gaychristians.com" or "gaychurch.org" don't worry you can finally come out of the closet like the republicans giuliani and foley. It's not atheists that become christian ministers like the carrot sucking christianTed Haggard, check your facts before posting more ignorant stuff. Try reading other books instead of the bible, the world changed a lot in the last 2000 years.

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...

There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

--Theodore Roosevelt, 1919

even if it meant your own religion was at stake?
Posted by bobnjersey at 06:21 PM : May 22, 2007

YES!!! even then. As a Christian if I have to go against my religion to save it, then my religion would be worthless. I cannot speak for other Religions, only mine. Any Christian that commits an act that injures an innocent, has sinned and we are to abstain from knowingly sinning. Before you jump all over my opening statement re-read it and think. My God does not require me to physically defend his word. He will do that when he 'needs' to. All I am required to do is "Love God with my entire being and 'Love' my neighbor as myself" (Mark 12: 31-32) Doing that will occupy the rest of my life.

for all those who seem to find an excuse and comfort in attacking GOD.

'an attack denotes fear..fear denotes belief'

if most athiest do not beleive, why do they consume so much time in discrediting GOD?

[Being a Christian has nothing to do with "Religion". It has something to do with knowing Christ and what He did for us on the cross.]

are there a prescribed set of core beliefs that define your view of what a christian is? are there others that subscribe to these core beliefs?

I am pleased that 26% of muslims approve of the bombings. I am also pleased that 100% of us christians approve of blowing these 26% off the face of the earth. Lets make that 100%.. The sooner we take these animals out the better. We started in the crusades, and it took men of total commitment to christ, to kill as many as possible to protect the holy land. Our day is around the corner, and the sooner the free world comes together, we need to bomb these folks back to the stone age. It's not that far for these guys.

Never should religion be a reason to kill people or to die. Religion is nothing more than mans attempt to make GOD in mans image.

Posted by Klingon69 at 05:44 PM : May 22, 2007

Well I'll be dam*ned (no doubt about that I guess) but we might actually agree on something. See below.

Why is it so surprising to so many people that so many people kill in the name of god? Man created god in his own image and likeness, so god has just as many faults, hates, prejudices and flaws as the people who created him/she/it. All god is is a convenient excuse.

Once again we agree. I think if you polled most religious people and asked if their religion was worth dying for you'd get at least as big of a number as the Muslims, esp among Christians. After all Christians have a long long history of killing to spread the faith, so dying to spread it is no big leap.

If what you think is right and Muhammad has only taught the Moslems to kill, then what you are saying is that those who go and kill innocent people, in their mind they are doing what god ordered them because if their prophet ordered it then for them it is word of god. Then here is the question for why don't Christians do what Jesus told them? by this analysis then in the eyes of god who is hypocrite?

"How many people did Jesus Christ murder?"
Posted by singinrick

-ChirpingRick (that's a change, lol!), maybe Jesus himself hasn't done anything, in term of fighting, and you're right to say so. But his brainwahed followers are taking revenge over his inaction all his life long. Look at Walking-Liar, inspired by the right-wingers who are beating the drummmmmms drummmms of the war. He was pacifist, and that cuts drastically from the policies that are forced and incremented by the right-winger Envagelists-Zionists...
