Why are people always comparing GUN crime rates in the U.S. versus other countries? Wouldn't it be more accurate to compare TOTAL crime rates? I mean, in some countries MACHETES have been used very effectively as a weapon.

Look at Florida, they passed stick gun control laws and what happened? more crime. Then they made a very intelligent decision, they made it easy for any law abiding person able to pass an FBI background check to carry a concealed weapon. Guess what happened??? Crime went down!!!! Many other states are fallowing suit 30+ so far. Australia?? Same thing. and by the way I never said Give all students a gun that is just stupid even to mention, that just goes to show you have no facts just paranoia.

I am all in favor of gun control. Anyone who owns a gun should be able to control it and shoot it effectively. All these guns just floating through the atmosphere shooting people on their own should be banned. Sounds stupid doesn't it, so is shooting somebody over a d*mn game. I suppose the gun used here and at Va. Tech, just grew legs and walked to where ever the criminal was going to use it.

What if he had pulled a knife? do we band knives? suddenly the US is a airport? (not allowed to own a pair of scissors) and we loose all our rights in the name of safety. We are constantly having our rights eroded by , terrorist, whack job students, over stepping politicians, right to lifers, gun control loons, domestic abusers and tree huggers. They all have something in common, their self absorbed and their the minority. When we loose our rights to protect ourselves from them the minority is then in control.

Hey ajouglard - yeah, uh, sorry about your dad-in-law and all, but "getting a hobby" just isn't the answer. People will always be crazy, but in other countries where people are crazy, they don't have access to guns so they can't mow down 35 people in a moment of insane rampage. Maybe they'll break a window with a baseball bat instead.

It's sad to see that a playstation is more important than human life, but this is what happens in societies where competition is the driving force of existence. Look at how black kids kill each other over a pair of shoes or jacket. People need to understand that piling up money and being rich at the expense of exploiting others is not exactly a worthy philosophy of life. Having everyone owning guns ain't exactly the solution either, the "I get pissed or Idon't like something, therefore I shoot you" mentality is the worst possible answer to all these problems.Maybe if these kids would have been playing outside exercising instead of sitting home letting a videogame character play for them they would have a way of letting the fumes out.

It really makes no difference whether they came to his door to steal the game player, or to reclaim something he stole from them. It is still an extremely stupid reason to commit murder!!!!!! Good grief, murder over a game player? How childish. He's either an extremely stupid person, or a paranoid freak. He'll get no sympathy here. Some family is suffering terribly over his stupidity.
