That's true and thank God for them! We can't count on folks like you to do anything but sit back home and whine about the war, the president, the vice president, the AG, Halliburtin, etc., etc.

The Guardsman who gave the orders can still be tried on federal civil rights charges, just like the KKK members in Mississippi were recently tried (on different charges than the state charges where an all-white jury let them off).

Track down the commander of the NG and invite him to spend a few years in a federal pen.

And anyone who can drop by to p*** on Gov. Rhodes grave is welcome to do so.

What really needs to be investigated is why the FBI had this tape, and failed to disclose it to the public. If its authentic, this is a huge case of government coverup of criminal activities, paramount to organized criminal activity.

The failed disclosure violated the right to due process of the defendents.

These Guardsmen were tried and acquitted. Liberals whining about the sanctity of the Constitution should try to read about double jeopardy. You can't keep trying people until you get the verdict you like. The students were not peaceful protesters. These protesters were burning and bombing buildings. They were throwing rocks at guardsmen and police. Now granted rocks are not "guns", but throwing a rock at a man and hitting him in the head can cause serious injury, possibly death. And with hundreds doing so: heard of %u201Cstoning%u201D? Pick up a rock and try to throw it at a cop, and see what his response will be. You could very well end up shot. These were violent people meaning to do bodily harm to the police and guardsmen. Put yourself in the place of the guardsmen and consider if their actions were understandable. To fire as they did, they must have felt threatened even terrified. Most liberals are provoked to uncontrolled anger by speech they don't like. If you were these Guardsmen, you would have fired at the first verbal taunt. You would not have waited for the rocks. The guardsmen were reasonable in feeling threatened. There were 28 guardsmen versus 2000 students rioting and throwing rocks. Would for example a liberal have felt threatened if there were 28 of them confronting 2000 right-wing conservatives rioting and throwing rocks? Thankfully, left-wing liberals are not armed (usually). Look at what a group of armed leftist soldiers did in 1989.

"We're not seeking revenge; we're not seeking punishment for the Guardsmen at this late date," Canfora said.
"All we want is the truth because we seek healing at Kent State for the student victims, as well as the triggermen who were ordered to fire. And healing can only result from the truth, and that's all we want."

Mr. Canfora,
There is no statute of limitations on murder. If the case were to be opened up and it was found out that the Guardsman were actually given the order to fire then the legal system would have to prosecute. So it is not up to you whether punishment is issued out or not. Would you be happy if they were sent to jail? How many more families need to suffer through all this?

I remember Kent State very well, burning campus buildings(arson)is NOT a peaceful demonstration NOR a constitutional right.

Only ONE thing to add to this disgusting Nazi's post!! SIEG HEIL!! There WERE no burning buildings at Kent State, the people who were shot were ON THE GROUNDS and no where NEAR any buildings. But to a sleazy Nazi that doesn't matter, the times do not matter, NOTHING matters because they were NOT following the guidence of the PARTY!! God but you Nazi are disgusting.

3-In Waco,180 Americans were killed, many children. Regardless is they were armed they did not present any iminent danger to anyone. Couldn't the administration talk to them, negotiate with them.

The Religious Extremist at Waco can't be comparied to the demonstrators at Kent State. The Extremist had weapons beyond any belief and a willingness to use those weapons against anyone who they concidered outside the Laws of God. The Kent State people were completely unarmed and meant no one any harm what so ever.

There must not be forgiveness for the person responsible until they've faced the punishment they should have faced thirty years ago. One reason we have the abuses of power that go on today is that those in power seem to always have the means to fend off punishment for their misconduct.

And we will not by any stretch of the imagination allow thirty years to pass before those responsible for the disgrace of torture, murder (at Abu Ghraib), and mock justice under Bush face THEIR punishment...and nobody gets forgiven until they are sorry AND punished...
