Appeals Court Examines Case Against Georgia Girl Who Wrote About Killing Her Math Teacher
- America is freaked out because these 'little girls' that you speak of can be killers.
kids bring weapons to school.and can be dangerous. ever watch the news?
teens are capable of horrific things now,
i think it is good that school caught this now,
hopefully she is in counseling right now, getting help she needs. - Reply to this comment
- America has become a land of p***ys. Afraid of a story written by a little girl. You deserve to lose your free speech if this frightens you. Cower behind the police state and lick my boots because I'll be the one with the whip.
And the rest of you here couldn't write a short story if your life depended on it. You have no standing to say a da**d thing. No doubt the most the rest of you watch "Entertainment Tonight" for your "hard news". Pu**ys. Lick my boots. - Reply to this comment

- "Oh Agnim, you're such a card you should be dealt with (lol ;D)
I guess the consensus is that therapy would have been the most productive in this type of situation. I am curious about what is behind the violent thoughts - ...........

"What's behind the violent thoughts" was what ANY CONCERNED PARENTS should have taken the CHILD to get answered during the merely 10 days of suspension!
Violent acts are preceded by "violent thoughts"!
And in a YOUNG/weak/deranged mind, "violent thoughts" are likely to turn into actions without any interlude of introspection!
Also, the thing became a Federal case because the IGNORANT AND IRRESPONSIBLE PARENTS brought it to the courts!
What that foolish family did not have the wisdom to do on it own, the judge needs to MANDATE: Go get HELP!
If I were the principal in that school, the CHILD does not return to classes until she gets attended to by a professional!
Better to err on the side of caution! - Reply to this comment

- A little heart-to-heart talk with the girl would have solved everything just fine. An iron fisted suspension only gives her more to be angry about.
Of course, I'm surprised they didn't encourage her to join the army so she can go act out all those fantasies shooting peple in Iraq. Teach her to look at an Iraqi and picture her math teacher. Channel the anger to a useful purpose. Praise the Lord! - Reply to this comment
- Boys grow up playing coyboys and indians, cops and robbers, but girls thinking about guns is not natural. I work in a male dominated world,(which makes me a little different than most females) but I never thought about guns or killing people. If I would have ever wrote fiction about killing (and I never did) it would have been about a fictional person or creature! Not in anyway attached to the real world.

- It's just a 10 day suspension - and for writing about how she'd love to kill her teacher! That sounds like a pretty gentle punishment to me!
There is something going on - normal kids don't write that. Her parents should spend some money on shrinks rather than lawyers. - Reply to this comment
- PS We all love teachers for the oftentimes underpaid and underappreciated jobs they do, but like with virtually all kids suffering from undiagnosed learning disabilites I got called dumb, slow, lazy and was booted to special ed by several teachers. Like there's a teacher in every school who just doesn't have the savvy to deal productively with a 'problem' child and takes it as an affront to their competency when that child starts falling behind. I don't think we can automatically assume that the teacher is faultless in contributing to feelings of frustration in a child - although frustration manifesting into violent writings is admittedly creepy and alarming. Just saying the frustration may not have just emerged out of nowhere and that if you address the source of the frustration as well as the violent tendencies of the child, it's twice as effective a solution.
