Comments on: Couple Uses MySpace In Hunt For Baby
Sherry and Karl Dittmar Hope To Find Birthmother Through Popular Internet Site
- I find n out of place for that holior than thou wonan/man writing that begging for a baby girl on the computer. Form the story they have children in their care.So they have their hands full to raise the ones that are in their homes. For one thing, she fail to reason, understand at all she begging for, A member of someone else's family and hand that member over.So sorry it don't work that way. The girl/woman carry that girl child, birth her, hand her over, never see the child, name her, the like. If the femele does hand her child over thinking it in the best interest of the child. That is a pack of lies. The woman knows she had that girl baby ,wonders about her,the same of her child they conned out of her.
And if the child is born disabled. That when they draw the line. That when they shep down from the plate.Christians do abuse children as well. It is rude or bad manners to brag, beg, covet, what's not theirs. Their bible tells them that. This is my say.

Wow
It was written in English I believe, but what you were trying to say or point you were trying to make is beyond me. - Reply to this comment
- I think that people may be jumping to the wrong conclusion. I don't think these people are actually trying to BUY a baby girl. But, most mothers that give their children up for adoption want to CHOOSE the parents. Let's face it...probably more than half the MY SPACE members are teenagers. And half of them female. Who knows, this might be a great thing for them and for some young girl that got herself into some trouble and is looking for a great Christian family to raise her child.

- I seriously doubt that you could find ANY religion that doesn't have its darker side, now or in its past. Even the Buddhists began from the Mongols.

Buddhism did not come from the Mongols. - Reply to this comment
- sandy: without proper screening of the parents how do you know they are legitimate? It's scary that you have to go on line to find a baby.. like another person posted IF they are as religious as she says they are, then the church would be able to help them. I'm sure there are a few teens in their community or area that are looking for a good family for their unborn child. But to go on line is tacky and scary - too many preditors out there and without proper screening this unborn child is a potential victim.

- If this helps some mother put her baby girl in a better home than it has now what are you all complaining about?
Maybe you all came from a home with two loving parents with the same things that the other kids in school had but not all of us did.
I can imagine a teen-age mother being able to place her newborn with these parents and being able to pull her life back together.
Give them a break. - Reply to this comment
- what does religion have to do with all of this?
There are alot of good law abiding christians out there as well as other well adjusted law abiding religious groups - I have an extremely wonderful Jewish neighbor that has 5 children (different ages and different races) and they are all well respected in the neighborhood.
This is about giving unwanted children a good home regardless of your religious beliefs.
This issue here is WHY do they have to go to myspace to find a child? Did they exhaust their adoption agencies recommendations OR is there something in the home that these agencies don't consider an adoptable family? Something seems awry here. AND who is going to screen these parents to make sure what they are saying is true - AND if God wanted them to have natural children then it would be... or nature in general for those who don't believe. BUT I still think there is something awry when you have to go ON LINE to find a child... doesn't sound normal to me. - Reply to this comment
- Good points, jennmarie620. I think that religion is being focused on because the couple decided to advertise it as a point for adoption. MySpace was likely a place they decided on BECAUSE it has a lot of teen/young adult subscribers, which means it's a more likely place to find a young mother who is looking for adoptive parents.
My concern on that is, how do we know this couple is legit? There is no background check on MySpace; are they looking to adopt or traffic a newborn? - Reply to this comment
- I'm wondering when a person's religions beliefs became criteria for raising a child? And I'm wondering how discussion about this story is focusing on this woman's religion?
I'm more worried about how they thought advertising for a child on Myspace was a good idea? There are agencies who handle adoptions - and if she's such a Christian, I'm sure her church also has experience in helping adoptive parents and newborns find each other.
But Myspace? Isn't that tacky?
"Yes, honey, when we knew we wanted a girl we went to Myspace and advertised for you."
Seriously, this is what our society is coming to? - Reply to this comment
- christian history is one of subversion, violence, death, bloodshed and bigotry- I wouldn't want any kid of mine growing up in a so called "christian" home.

- Ohhh...I love it when ignorananus christians start making threats of doom from "god"...For your information aaple3...IN GOD WE TRUST was only added to the pledge and our currency during the 50's when everyone was freaking out about communism. Learn some history...and as for the violent history of christianity, read on that history too...You're clinging to a religion soaked in the blood of innocents...Did it ever occur to you that there are actually many people who've managed to raise good, respectful children who are athiest or agnostic? You should get out of your neighborhood once in awhile, the world is full of so much more than what christianity has to offer...which in my opinion isn't much.

- "Christian history is one of subversion, violence, death, bloodshed and bigotry"
Can you give me an example of one mainstream "RELIGION" that hasn't had a history of everything you listed off. I doubt it. The keyword here is history.
Right now extremist Muslims are causing alot of violence, does that make every man women or child who is a Muslim a violent , bigoted hate monger? Obviously not!
Why don't you give us some real reasons why you wouldn't want any kid of yours growing up in a so called "Christian" home. - Reply to this comment
- Why don't they just go off to some third world country and steal, I mean adopt a baby girl like the washed up, a cry for attention, show biz has beens are doing. But the Dittmars seem to be a decent couple with good intensions and there are alot of teen pregnancies right here in America. So why not give a new born a chance of a better life, and maybe a young mothers remorse.
