Comments on: Georgia School Holds First Integrated Prom
White And Black Students Held Separate Proms Until This Year
- Agreed - this is a SAD commentary on where many in the South still stand. Congrats to the kids - a pox on the adults. This folks is the Bible Belt with all its hypocrisy exposed and the type of people our Presidential candidates have to court to get elected. I promise you these bigots go to church every Sunday and proclaim how self-righteous they are, even while expressing outright hatred for non-whites; ***; and non-christians. When you doubt that Rove, etal don't play the race card down South to get Republicans elected - this should remind you of how true it is. Many of the kids are tearing down the walls; but bigotry and ignorance still reign supreme throughout many of the small towns in the American South.

- I cannot believe this exists. I am glad I have lived in California all my life and this has never existed not even for proms in the 1960's. God Bless America

- I think its wonderful that their finally doing this. Its so sad that most of the country still turns a blind eye away from the racist issues we still have in this country. While it keeps improving.. it will never be soon enough.

- I guess Martin Luther King was right when he said One day black children and white children coming together. Just sad that it has taken so long for some to come aroung!

- Good for these kids and their families. This integrated senior prom is long overdue. I would never have believed that any high school in the USA was still holding seperate race senior proms. I attended my senior prom back in the 1970's. My Detroit area school was 60% white and 40% black. And we both attended this senior prom together. There were no problems with race (for the prom anyway).

- Blacks and whites still don't have proms together in America and we are trying to bring together Sunnis, Shias, and Kurds in Iraq?
