I wish CBSNEWS would run a survey poll to see what the American People think about if Mr.Imus should have been fired after he apologized on national Television.
Vote Yes or No
MSNBC was right in Firing Him--------------
Should not have been Fired------------------

I am outraged by the hypocracy of the imus situation. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson should be banned from television due to the many hurtful comments they have made. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones

I'll bet if MsNBC wasn't so quick to pull the plug on Mr,Imus, because of some wimmpy a$$ sponsors. They would find out that there are many more Good American sponsors that would have picked up the air time with Mr.Imus. I would love to see some of them call MsNBC and offer there sponsorship to them only if thay apologize to Mr.Imus and beg him to come back. MONEY TALKS

Hang in there Imus, you have a lot of people standing by your side on this one.

Has anyone heard when Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will be on the Imus show to apologize for the things they said about the Duke boys?

Please don't succumb to the pressure of the likes of
Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson who are nothing but
opportunist who have themselves made racial comments
against whites. If you let the listers decide, you will reap the benefits, in higher ratings for his radio show. Don't make Imus the sacrificial lamb
before the alter of the likes Jessie and Al.

Don Imus' remarks were critically inflamatory. While Shaprton and Jackson did jump to conclusions on the Duke case, there were unknown variables of guilt/innocence which protected them. Here, as the lips came out of his mouth, they were wrong. It's somewhat apples and oranges. Believe me, Al and Jesse are not models by any means, but they jumped (albeit too fast) to someone's defense. Don's actions were guilty from the moment uttered.

How quickly everyone has forgotten "HYMIE TOWN?"
I don't agree with the outrageous comments made on Imus' program but he has apologized and done everything but eat his hat. The two "Reverends" somehow are forgetting the teachings of forgiveness.
Imus has done more good for children and our wounded soldiers than any politician!!!He also has the guts to speak out against the drug makers on what he believes is causing autism. Enough is enough!!!!

...(cont.) However, over the past few days the issue has shifted. I had hope this bad display of humor would get the media focused on the real issue. The record company's and music TV outlets that are allowing rappers to degrade women in their music by using such a poor taste in their lyrics. This is NOT poetry. Poetry is eloquently written by the likes of Shakespeare, Pushkin, Blocke%u2026, not 50 cent or Eminem. Americans have come to expect less of our literature, music, politicians and children%u2026 I blame the entertainment business first for desensitizing the words (wh---s, n-----, bi-----, s---) and allowing men to think it's okay to reference their daughters, sister's, and Mothers in such a belittling way.

I do not believe what Imus did is right but how much more does he have to take. Do you see any body marching out side of Duke because of what they did to the young WHITE gentlemen. Have were heard Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton say they are sorry for blowing what happen to those young men our of context, should we forgive them, as they have yet to forgive. Let it go people what Imus did is wrong and he admitted that. Why yet have we not heard that the young women that lied about what the lacrosse team is in jail for filling a fasle report, Has Mr Jackson taken the money back that he gave to the young women for college. If the young men from Duke were Black we would of had protest after protest about how this is Bias at its Highest yet they are white accused by a black and I see no protest. LET IT GO.

I find these comments so disheartening because it tells me that our country hasn't changed much since the civil rights movement. I am an American female who is bi-racial and very proud of my ethnic background. When I first heard about Imus' remarks, I was incensed not by the use of the word "nappy head" but, the reference to women (in general) as "ho's". Growing up I was often ridiculed by both black and white kids who called me "Scary Spice" because of my curly hair. My Mom often called us, "her little girls with the "kinky curls". I'm fortunate to have a very diverse group of friends. The 1st night this incident was published in the media we were more outrage for the descriptive use of the word "ho's" than anything else. We were sure that women were going to ban together (as we did) and start voicing their disapproval of his behavior. I expected to see Gloria Allred (Author of "Fight Back and Win") all over TV the next day demanding an apology for all women...

Bush and Chaney - 400% increase in child violent deaths in the US. And ten%u2019s of thousands of children%u2019s deaths, and disability from preventable illness, as a result Bush and Chaney destroying government, and community health, and safety nets.

But Bush and Chaney are so-called Christians. So I think we can all be confident that we will go to heaven. Along with Bush, and Chaney. And the murderers, rapist, and child molesters. We couldn%u2019t be any worse than them. Right?!

That%u2019s right pilgrims. Judgment day is coming. And your all going to HELL!!!!

That%u2019s the score I%u2019m keeping. :-(

It's a sad day when a person that has done so much for others, can be dropped for making a stupid remark and apologizes for it over and over. I think Sharpton is afraid of a little radio competition.

Even though it is unacceptable for Imus to make the comments he made, and he should be ashamed of himself; Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Barrack Obama and Al Roker should be ashamed as well for not accepting this mans mistake. He has apologized to no end. I was under the impression that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were "men of God", but I guess they worship a God that doesn't forgive. All the effort and accomplishments these men have worked so hard for over the years and now to teach hatred. Maybe there's a lot I don't know about these men, but now I believe they are hypocrites. My views of all of you have changed as a result of your outright inability to forgive. You all must worship the same God that is over in Iraq, the one that doesn't care about human life. Forgiving a person doesn't mean you accept what they have done.

I don't know this Imus guy or have ever listened to his radio show, but I do understand human error and the term speak before you think. What is happening to this world? In my book these men have taken one step backwards in their fight for equality amoung races. Is the intention to go backwards in time, so the blacks can suppress the whites. I don't think that could happen because we are too much of a mixed race world. As for me I will continue to worship a God that teaches forgiveness and love my neighbors - no matter what color they are.

I totally agree with Janetlvl's comments. I watch Imus every day and his show is the most informative show on tv or radio. There is also noone in radio or tv that has talked about issues like thimerosol and autism, sids, raising benefits for our veterans, improving conditions at veterans hospitals, helping kids with cancer, and all of the other worthy causes he stands behind. The only worthy causes Al Sharpton and Jackson stand behind are themselves (or what they feel are black injustices, like Brawley or the Duke case). How can anyone, black or white, take anything they say seriously. Don Imus is not afraid to take on any issue and perhaps that is why this is happening to him. Yes, he made a mistake, he acknowledges that fact, has apologized and asked for forgiveness, unlike sharpton or jackson, and yet he is treated like this. I hope that CBS will recognize the good that Don Imus does every day, and not give in to more powerful forces (like big businesses or hyprocritcal black so called leaders) like msnbc did. I will never watch any show on MSNBC again, and hope to be able to keep watching CBC, but I will also not support the sponsors that forced Imus to be fired. Don Imus is a good man who said a bad thing and does not deserve what is happening to him. Even though I do not have a radio station where I live that carries Imus, I do not want to see his career end like this. Although he would probably be better off at XM radio anyway. CBS do the right thing.

This deal with Mr. Imus has been blown all out of proportion by a very small racist political group. With two very big racist bigots Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson whom if you really listen to close sound like two $hit salesmen dealing out a mouth full of samples. Talk about dividing a country against each other and creating racism, Way to go guys... With this $hit what you really have accomplished was to turn back the pages of history in racism. Mr. Imus was wrong with what he said, and he apologized for it on national television, Both Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson call themselves Ministers. Ministers my behind, whatever happened to forgiveness? I think people out there with PC should let MSNBC know what kind of wimpy one-sided news media they really have. But then again with the media it%u2019s all about money, the hell with right or wrong.

Hello,
I hope CBS has more courage and compassion than MSNBC has regarding Imus. I am a female, and was offended by the remarks Imus made about the Rutger's team, however I am much more offended by MSNBC's action in pulling Imus off the air. Imus apologized, and as a longtime viewer, I know Don Imus can be controversial, but his support for poor people...white and black...during Katrina; his loyal support to Harold Ford, Jr. (who apparently the voters were right to reject, now that he has shown a lack of loyalty) during the racially charged adverstising against him; his work with the cancer kids, and fight against autism; and his forum for airing diverse opinions on his show, all make him someone worth listening to in the morning. Unfortunately, my area does not receive his radio show, so I will have to do without Imus in the Morning...but, I will no longer watch MSNBC, or NBC during that time slot. I will switch to CBS morning programming...unless CBS decides to also drop his radio show. I thought the airwaves were for everyone...not, just a select few such as Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, both of whom I have supported up until now. They lit the cross on Imus and stoked the fires, but have done little to stop all the horrendously destructive comments made by the Hip Hop music, or black entertainment stations.

I've been reading lyrics of dozens of so-called musicians of the hip hop genre. Truly an eye opening experience. Here are lyrics of just TWO that make reference to 'nappy headed hoes'

Kane and Abel %u2013 Jealous Again
Its time to get strapped again
Because them nappy head hoes getting jealous again, again

Xzibit
D.N.A (Drugs-N-Alkahol)
***** I'm universal crackin Down South (ya heard?)
Poppin my collar with my *** in your girl's mouth, ha ha
You act like you a dude you get smashed on
Full out my *** with your ****** up attitude
Nappy-head hoes, worse than *** *****
I treat 'em all the same, *** check yo' game!

And this from Roy S. Johnsons%u2019s Ballers, Gamers & Scoundrels, %u201CHey, Imus, we%u2019re proud of our nappy hair (at least those of us who have hair). It%u2019s part of our heritage and who we are. But the %u201Cho%u201D thing, uh-uh. And don%u2019t blame hip-hop culture and its misogynistic lyrics for your own stupidity.%u201D Mr. Johnson listen to the lyrics of the hip-hop culture clearly.

Mr Bruce Gordon, former head of the NAACP and a director of CBS Corp told the Associated Press on Wednesday that he hoped CBS would "make the smart decision" by firing Imus. "He's crossed the line, he's violated our community. He needs to face the consequence of that violation". Mr Gordon, when will YOUR community stop referring to themselves in terms you accuse Mr Imus of violating? Hypocrisy runs rampant!
