Prosecutors Drop All Charges Against Duke Lacrosse Players Accused Of Sexual Assault
- I grew up with boys like that and attended college with them. They thought the world was theirs for the taking, with no consequences. I'm interested in seeing how this affects their lives. I think it will make them more intelligent people. I think it might even make them better people, if they don't become racists and mysogenists first.
I didn't think they were guilty of the crime, but they deserved the shame and humiliation. Obviously their coach didn't trust them and resigned pretty immediately. Also, one of the accused assaulted a young man in Georgetown last year. I wonder what happened about that.
The stripper still has my sympathy. She is a very young and troubled woman in a profession full of young, troubled women, many of whom have turned to that kind of work after being sexually assaulted or traumatized.
It's an expensive lesson for the boys to learn, but maybe they should have restricted their activities to a strip bar or commercial joint instead. Buyer beware. - Reply to this comment
- I feel sorry for the players. I think that in many ways their lives have been ruined and there has been a miscarriage of justice. One of the players had a very good point. If they, privileged people who spent millions of dollars on their defense, can be steam rolled by the justice system, imagine what people with less means in America have to go through.
I sympathize with the players, but I can't help noticing the difference in coverage between this case and the New York jogger rape case where black and Latino youth were acquitted of charges because of DNA evidence after languishing in prison for years. The New York Times had an article buried in its back pages and there was little national TV media coverage about that miscarriage of justice. - Reply to this comment
- The Duke Players are one more reason the News Media should not be able to release the name of an accused until they are found guilty in the court of law. The need for a fair trial should out-weigh the need for the public to know. In this case as in many other cases the person that falsely accused these young men will get off "Scott Free". If there is a law passed to this regard, it makes a Constitutional level playing field.

- I feel sorry for the Duke players, even acquitted they are smeared for life. There was never enough credible evidence for this incident to go this far, it should have been dismissed from the beginning. On the other hand to be balanced and fair, the Duke players should not have put themselves in that situation to be exposed to the feeding frenzy of racial politics in that area of already heated racial issues. Everything had to go right for the Duke players to enjoy themselves. Where the Duke players failed was not thinking about the consequences if anything went wrong in that heated racial community and they paid for it when things did go wrong!

- If you're reading CBS News, MSNBC, CNN etc for anything other than a good laugh, you're a lib moron. They're still protecting this accuser's identity like she's a victim. Foxnews is the only one that has enough guts to post this criminal's name. The mainstream media obviously has to check with their sensitivity directors before any story gets printed.

- Citizen 18 is just another racist whiner-denier. If I had money I'd post the best defense I could, too. Crystal Gayle Magnum is a loser who picked the wrong night to "work" for her "education" at NCCU. She should have stayed home with her children. All her defenders are morally and spiritually bankrupt from JJ and AS on down.
