In my opinion as a mother with a young child I feel, that everyone who is trying to blame the police are ignorent. The fact is the police was called in because of her driving by other motorist. They did not know the women had a child in the car! They was doing there job. Which is why they get paid. Everyone is trying to justify her actions, when there is no justifaction for what she did. She chose to steal the vehicle. She chose to drive at high speeds. She chose to take her child with her. When we are growing up we are told to deal with the consequenses of our actions. So she has to deal with hers. To put it blunt, She made her bed now she has to lye in it. I feel the police did everything they was suppose to do. And I don't hold them resposible for nothing they did. And anyone who wants to blame them. Well lets just say what if it was your family that was on the highway that night . How would you feel then!! Think about it and get back with us!!

OK, OK, I'm going to stop now. I was just trying to do a Phil Hendrie on you guys. The woman was wrong to drive the way she did with or without a baby. But to have a baby next to her and drive the way she did shows a pathology that is mostly seen in criminals, mainly people who don't care about hurting or even killing other people.
Phil Hendrie, who in my opinion is one of the most talented radio personalities in US history, would invite "guests" to his show and interview them. These "guests" were so outrageous people would be calling his show fuming about the "guests" opinions. It turns out Phil Hendrie and his "guests" are one and the same but the way he changes voices so quick is simply phenomenal.
He once had a "guest" who said Elian Gonzales should be spanked and sent back to Mexico. So you can imagine the response he got.
On another occasion he had this guy who worked for a tobacco company and wanted to drive a Whacky Tabacky truck to help introduce cigarette smoking to children under 18.
Unfortunately, he's off the air now. I hope he'll be back some day soon.
I wonder what the man would have to say at my effort to imitate him on this thread.
I apologize to anyone whose feelings I have hurt. I'm afraid I took it too far.
But I have to admit, it was fun!

You know, that was exactly the sentiments of the evil nazis who were guilty of gassing and baking Jews: "I was only doing my job." Tsk-tsk

Wow Agnim. Now you are on the side of the Jewish people? You jump sides of issues pretty *** quick to suit whatever cause you decide to take up...to their detriment.

This little girl is dead because of her mother. End of story.

She probably has another 10 kids at home anyway, and one on the way.

By the way - I'm a liberal, quite definitely - and we don't at all claim idiots like Agnim or hypocrites misnamed closet hippy. The people who are irrationally up in arms about completely reasonable and necessary chases like this are stupid anarchists who just hate the idea they can't do whatever they like without the police keeping everyone in line. You can always tell because they never have any interest, sympathy, nor even comprehension of what the other's side of the story is, they don't pay any attention to the facts (like that the mother was driving crazy before any police were there, and after they backed off; or that people are killed all the time by people driving crazy like she was).

I don't know if it was drunk or drugs, or just plain stupid and willing to kill anyone in her lane - but the record is clear. She put her baby in the car with no carseat, and the police were called because she was driving nuts, which can and does kill many people. They could no longer pull back and wait for her to get tired of driving than they could sit back and wait for a mother shooting randomly around her to get tired of shooting.

ClosetHippy....
I am dumbfounded at some of your responses. To even begin to blame the police officers for the life of this 9-month old. They were doing their job....did you miss the part of the article were it mentioned a motorist calling to report this women for driving recklessly? Someone was asking for help because they felt this women was unsafe. This woman is a poor excuse for a human being. Lock her up and throw away the key.

I won't even go get started on your sexist comments. You're pathetic.

I never can understand it when some of you keep blaming the policemen.

The woman was at fault, she was driving very recklessly & she knew her infant was with her. Talk about child abuse!!!

The policemen were doing their job. And if we start saying they cannot continue pursuing suspects - just gives the criminal the ok to 'get away' & more probably continue to drive recklessly & injure someone else.

She needs to have the book thrown at her AND should not get out of prison for a VERY LONG time.

Thank you policemen for stopping her!!
