My cat became very sick at the end of January, one day after we started feeding her the Eukanuba can food. She lost her appetite, vomitted, urinated a lot, became very inactive and was very dehydrated. She was so ill we thought we were going to lose her. She was in and out of the vet's clinic for more than a week. The vet did all the blood work and fecal test and couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. We started feeding her home made chicken and rice. We were very very fortunate that she is now fully recovered. I am very upset at Menu Food as the problem with their products seem to have surfaced a few months ago. They should have recalled their products right away.

FYI: I have been following these post closley and have so far found 15 post concerning dry food as well.... I lost my two dogs in three days from the same symptoms. They ate only dry dog food. One was 3 1/2 years old and the other about 6 or 7.

As previously states by another.... Only coincidental?

"If your cat died from dry food contact this agency. This is the website.

I have been saving all comments related to dry foods. If anyone would like a copy.

To everyone whose pet(s) ate the foods in question: Please have labs drawn on your pet. My 1 yr old dog had no symptoms but did eat the food. After seeing the story I took her to the vet and she had abnormal lab values indicating early kidney disease. She is currently receiving treatment including fluids. The vet and the people at the FDA # (listed on this site) said if you catch it early there is hope of a good outcome.

I am a new poster. I must confess I've been a lurker. I've been told I have a big heart. I want every pet parent to know I am grieving for each of you. Such a gamut of mixed emotions expressed.. shock, anger, devastation, guilt, retaliation..but it is the helplessness and uncertainy that can be felt by all awaiting the outcome of the recall.

My Kitty and I are not (yet) affected, but I am so anxious.

We all are influenced by advertising and marketing, and I believe all pet parents do the best they can for their pets. Those who are suffering illness and losses..you and your loved ones are in my thoughts.

I just ordered Flint River Dog Food. After some research it seems to be one of the best. 100% organic with no garbage fillers. I had been feeding my Maltese Iams select bites. I am going to try the Flint River. Hopefully he will like it. For now I am going to cook up chicken, snd feed him turkey breast.

There is a major crisis going on here! My golden retriever, 4 years old, perfectly healthy, died of renal failure last month, The vet said he was beyond help so he was put to sleep. He was only given dry dog food, he was tied so nothing else but the food could have made him fatally sick. People, it is not only the wet dog foods!!!! I know that this is the reason my dog is dead! BEWARE OF ALL DOG FOOD! If they don't know what the contamination is then how can they say it is only a certain type?

I switched my two cats from Iams to Blue Buffalo Spa Select dry food a few months ago; they love it and are doing very well. I also let them share a can or pouch of soft food every morning, most of which has also been Blue Buffalo, although they have had Iams or Nutro pouches in the past.

I called Blue Buffalo and reached a recording stating none of their food is involved in the recall, but still want more information, so I am calling back during business hours tomorrow.

My thoughts are with all of you.

A rep. from IAMS just called regarding IAMS Select Bites that I had been feeding my 2 yr old Maltese. She said that you would see symptoms within 24 hours of your dog eating the food. She repeated the symptoms we have been reading about. My dog has been fine. He is bounding around the house and going for long walks.I stopped feeding him the food as soon as I heard about the recall. There were times when he would sniff the food and walk away, not eating it. I should have known something was up. I have been feeding him Pedigree in the pouch. I will continue to watch him closely. To those who have lost pets I am sorry, to those who's pets are ill I hope for a full recovery.

This goes further back than is being reported. May 27th 2006 I buried my beautiful baby girl to complete Kidney Failure. She became ill suddenly and our vet thought she was poisoned. She was poisoned alright from the dog food she was eating prior to getting ill. From the onset to her death took 4 days. My family and I now know what happened to her and I have already reported this to the FDA. They were very interested to hear the details of her illness and her death. I implore every pet owner to hold this company liable for the negligence of their actions. Sincerely, E. Faust

The news media are not doing their jobs!! All they are doing is reading, word for word, what is posted on the Menu website. To the news media.....let me clue you in....COVER UP!!! Here's the REAL story: There are a lot more brands that are POISONED than the pet food manufacturer's are letting on. AND....there are 1,000's and 1,000 of animals that have already died (including mine 1/21/7); gotten ill or are currently ill. So, you so-called news reporters.....DO YOUR JOB AND INVESTIGATE!!!! Stop being "movie stars"; just sitting in front of a camera and reading word for word what comes off the AP wire!! THOUSANDS of animals have died. THOUSANDS are now fighting for their lives. EACH pet owner has spent or is now spending $1,000's of dollar in Vet bills!!! This is a Class Action Lawsuit in the making!! I have started a petition for those of us who are effected/DEVISTATED by this blatant murdering of our "children". www.ipetitions.com/petition/MakeThemPAY
We WILL have our day in court!! JUSTICE FOR TIGGER!!!!

I'm worried because I feed my two 11 month old kittens a shared bag of Nutro every night. The bags in my house do not seem to be from the affected batch but HOW DO I KNOW that what I fed them two weeks or three weeks ago wasn't affected? AND, how do I know that the rest of the foods they put out are really safe? How long would it take these symptoms to appear, if they were going to?

MANY more cats and dogs have sickened and died than are being reported. A good friend of mine here had her very well loved and very well cared for cat die a few weeks ago when her kidney's suddenly failed. It wasn't until AFTER the cat had died that the tainted food came to light. She'd only fed one can of the tainted Iams, and brought the cat in the morning it started to appear ill. $1000 and 24 hours later the cat was dead.

THOUSANDS of people are affected. THOUSANDS of people have lost companions and spend MANY thousands trying to save them. Those pets that survive will require special food and medication for the rest of their lives. Many of us spent extra money to get what we believed to be the highest quality food available for our animals ... and it turned out to be poison instead.

I suspect there are THOUSANDS of people who have lost cats or dogs ...
THOUSANDS of people who have spent a lot of money trying to save beloved pets ...
THOUSANDS of people who, if their pet survived, will now spend thousands more on the special food and medication the animal will need for the rest of it's life.

Hello,
My heart goes out to any of you that have lost a beloved friend from this situation. I also lost my little boy, he was an active, healthy 10 year old cat that was the light of our lives. He became ill, not eating urinary problems, listless at the beginning of Dec. we took him to the vet, he said it appeared that there was a blockage but nothing conclusive. I asked about a special diet he said " keep feeding him what you are" little did I know that was causing the trouble, well after 2 trips and almost 2 full weeks in the hospital and alot of $$$, the problems came back and we had to put him to sleep. This is an outrage, we can not stand for this.
