So in a nutshell--humans become enured to violence and never realize how horrendous and awful, depraved and stupid, violent and sick their actions OR the environment/times they created are--until it is over. It happens to women everyday, it happened to Germany in WWI and WWII and it will happen to us when we finally leave Iraq and future generations review what we did, why we did it, how we justify it, etc.

If you are alive 20 years from now. be prepared for the disgusted looks, the horror and the questions: how could America have done this? What were we thinking? How could we justify torture? and be prepared for answers similar to Germans after WWII----'it was the times we were in', you don't understand what those people meant to do to us' 'we were just following orders' 'I was against it' 'we did not mean to do all of that' 'things just got out of hand' 'they made us do it'

Synopsis of why an abused woman places her kids in harms way and never understands that if he will hurt her, he will hurt them also.

Synopsis of why a country places other countries who did nothing to them in harms way and how they can go down the road of human depravity and pretend they have a halo.

Part 2 Why did she stay?

On a public level, it is why we accepted no true justification for traveling thousands of miles to kill people in a sovereign country. WE tell ourselves we "saved or rescued them" but since they never asked for our 'help or rescue' and we killed many just to be there-- we know we were really just deadly busybodies that have caused the death of hundreds of thousands (just by destabilizing and our bombs and guns)

We tried people for torture and later practice the same techniques and say our reasons for it are different and justified. We kill, create mayhem, lie, spin and yet we tell ourselves it is not our fault, we are their only hope--and we see the war, our actions and their and our own deaths through different smokescreens and buffers. We forget we set in all in motion in the first place. Imagine that, the person who harms you and wrecks your country is your only hope....

It would be like this little baby needing an organ and the daddy who tried to kill him being the only possible donor--imagine the irony, the horror, the sickness of such a twist in events--now imagine the dad seeing himself as the hero and conveniently ignoring WHY the baby needs a new organ, and who caused the mess in the first place.

People are asking how could the father do this and how could the mom let this happen--especially since she had a history with him and his violence....

When you grow up with violence and are continually surrounded by it--you tend to think of it as normal and acceptable. They see the world through a prism of justifications that act as a smokescreen and buffer --this buffer never allows them to accept or often, even push for a change in their environment and mentally they make excuses for why things happen, why they are justified, why it was not that bad..and why it should continue.

On a private level, it is the main reason women who had abusive fathers or parents will often seek out similar situations subconsciously as they get older. They want what they know and they mistakenly think they can "fix" it--unlike the impotency they had as child victims. Once in, they resort to the ostritch syndrome and defense mechanisms they developed as children and few run away--unless there is a lot of outside influence and something in them changes and can listen to outsiders.

Let's have some compassion for this mother. This poor baby does not need to lose both parents. She needs counseling and parenting classes so she can make the best of a really bad situation. She may need some job skill training as well. She needs to know that God is in the business of changing lives. He is an awesome husband to the husbandless and father to the fatherless. Those of you who are passing judgement on her, what have you done to help her? How can you be Jesus to her?

About this business of making people apply to be parents. Do you really want the government in charge of your private decisions? What if they determine that you are an unfit parent because of the beliefs you hold? Do you really want to go there? Adoption is a wonderful option for people who can't or won't take care of their children. It is a truly loving option.

This would also save lots of money (for working people) - welfare people wouldn't be able to keep breeding just to get more food stamps and AFDC, and it's likely we would also be solving the chronic problem of over-crowded prisons.

the problem with this line of thinking is that is how inocent people get killed. If you have a shoot on sight mentality, you are going to pull the trigger on the first person who even resmbles the perp. So you do, and you kill the wrong guy. He has a family and kids, did nothing wrong. Now there is another set of inocent people who ar suffering.

So no! Catch him, try him, put him away where he will lowly go insane and die a broken person. Then, God can deal with him by sending him to hell!

P.S. if he resists, or tries to flee, or pulls a weapon, then its game on for the police!

I'd rather have this sick individual be put to death - why should all of us pay our taxes to feed this guy when the children of law-abiding citizens are going hungry. Either shoot him, fry him in the electric chair, or put him in the exercise yard in any maximum-security facility. And yes, I agree with regulations for breeding. Every other part of society is regulated already. You need training and a license to drive a car, fly a plane, become a nurse, etc. so why shouldn't we have to have training and apply for a permit to breed? Their death should be painful, imminent and immediate! I do not want my tax dollars going to support these wastes of skin with a life sentence, where they will appeal and get out on a technicality! Did their victims get that??? Poor sweet baby.

Ok I agree I am VERY ANGRY and UPSET with the fact that the father of this little baby could do this to this child. But you guys are judging the mother in this case. She handed her son to his father so she could get his car seat. If she knew he was going to do that to her baby I am sure she would have never handed her son too him. I am going through a bad thing myself with my newborn daughter's father. I refuse to let him see her do to the verbal abuse he started with my 3 children (that are not his) when I was pregnant. Cut the mom a little slack her she is going through enough with what happened to her son. and by the grace of god that man will rot in hell the rest of his life. Some of you people should have some compassion for Domestic Violence victims. You think it is easy to just pick up and leave. No it is not!!!!!!!! Until you walk in a victims shoes who the heck are you to judge that person? There could be many reasons why that women decided not to leave. It is easy for you to say she should have done this and done that, but it might not be easy for her to actually do it.

Yes! If a mother has ANY reason to suspect her boyfriend or husband may harm her children, then she has a responsibility to protect them and get out. At the very least, get the kids out. If she fails, then she is partly, if not pretty close to equally, responsible. I do understand the cycle of violence and poverty. I have been there. And I got out, and got my kids to safety. Bottom line. A mother has a huge responsibility to protect her kids. Even more so if that father is a loser and a danger.

No, we cant. Were not China.But we can hold this man completely and utterly accountable. Some would say that a case like this warrants the death penalty. But I say death is far to kind for him. Let him go to prison for the rest of his life where he will have to be kept in solitary confinement for ever. Because you know that he would be killed the moment he was place in general population. Then, after a long miserable exsistance, let him die and go to hell. Am I being judgemental? Kind of hard not to in this situation.

what is wrong with this world, that is an innocent child. My heart is permanently broken by all these stories of child neglect and murder. Especially when parents is behind the whole thing. An 11 month old baby depends soley on you for love,nurturing and PROTECTION from harm. They have no chance of survival on their own. I pray that this man pays dearly for his actions and this baby finds a home with people who will love and care for him the way he deserves.

If the man hit you once and according to the above story and reports filed he had already kicked her in the head and body in 2005.....WHY ON EARTH WAS SHE EVEN GIVING HIM THE TIME OF DAY? Have you ever been the victim of domestic abuse? Do you think for a minute this woman thought this *** would actually stab this child? Too many women grow up seeing abuse as a way of life - they just don't understand there's a way out of it. Unfortunately, society doesn't protect them enough, because even if they call the cops these guys get at them again.

The animal who stabbed his child should be drawn and quartered. I like the one readers quote that if the Liberals want him to live, he should live with them. Every Liberal needs one of three things happen in their life:
1)A family member killed because an armed person decided they should die and nobody around had the means to stop them.
2) Their daughter having a late term baby born alive.
3)The guy who killed a family member go free because he had a bad childhood.
You'd surely see a few more conservatives in the world.
People should get off the mothers case. The father of her child tried to kill her infant, and she probably hates him as much as you do.

This is such a terrible thing. My heart and prayers go out to that poor baby and his family. No mother wants her child stabbed, regardless of the ridiculous amount of finger-pointing going on.
