Badax,,, This is just another example of failed policies,, General Weightman has only been on the job since last August, another career ruined, another good general down --- The problem is systemic & includes VA hospitals,,, We where supposed to be greated with flowers remember?? They didn't have the policies for an extended casualty count,,, Again, Thank Bush & his friends the Sunni's - 9/11 Terrorist where Sunni's, 96% of our casualties is by Sunni's

What a sad commentary for our young soldiers who are coming home injured after serving in Shrubs war. Many heads should roll over this one...There should be an extensive investigation by the same organization (JCAHO) that inspects and approves every major hospital...Walter Reed would be shut down!!
Before this is over, somehow an attempt will be made to lay this fiasco at the feet of the Democrats...but, alas, it is the Republicans in control for the past 6-7 years!

I have an idea...why don't we quit sending millions to Iraq, and invest that money in our VA hospitals...in the needs of our citizens...in our schools...in our Military?

Those of us that are familiar with BAMC (Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, a state of the art burn center and hospital, and the Waco VA Medical Center in Waco, TX is a referral facility for chronically mentally ill patients and a national referral facility for blind rehabilitation. The facility operates 191 psychiatry beds and 15 blind rehabilitation beds), cannot fathom a Pentagon allowing the decline and deterioration of Walter Reed Hospital.

And today, it was announced that the Waco Facility got funding to treat the psycological and physical traumas coming back from Iraq. Part of the funding will go to the hospital%u2019s expansion as a national center specializing in mental health care. Anothe part of the funding will allow a study that will focus on whether genes and brain anatomy play a role in the root causes of PTSD and related stress disorders. The research begins in the wake of Pentagon studies that predict as many as one in six military personnel returning from Iraq may suffer from PTSD because of constant exposure to widespread violence.

There is nothing that would excuse the Pentagon to allow the downfall Of Walter Reed Hospital.

The US army (military) is a mercenary army.

They are people who enlist for profit, not patriotism.

It is irrelevant who agrees with that statement. Disagreement does not alter the fact that the US military is motivated by money, not patriotism.

If they paid their own expenses, or only received a basic stipend that provided necessaries only, they could make a case they were patriots. But, they do not, so they cannot.

A low level enlisted person makes more than a comparable person in the private sector. They are mercenaries, not patriots.

And the US military has never fought for anyone's freedom, they fight to defend (or capture) "strategic objectives." In the current situation, "strategic objectives" are Iraq's trillion dollar oil & gas fields.

In Afghanistan, the "strategic objective" is the pipeline oil companies are building to transport oil from oil rich 'stans to a port in Pakistan.

That has nothing whatsoever to do with "democracy" or "freedom." Except the freedom for ExxonMobil (et al) execs to continue collecting exorbitant, unearned salaries and bonuses.

People who consider our mercenary army to be patriots based on nothing more than the fact they hired themselves out for salary & benefits are morons.

To say that our military is a mercenary group of people only supporting big business is an insult to all who serve and served.

This was NOT written about our guys in uniform. This refers to the hired guns (i.e., BlackwaterUSA, etc.) that are being used in Iraq.

I have no problem helping the entire world provided that it should not be on the cost of American money and American lives.
I really hate those people who say that we are making great progress in Iraq where children are going to school and patients to the hospitals while our own soldiers are in miserable conditions at Walter Reed.
America comes first. What progress are we making in United States?More then 700,000 Americans are Homeless while our Tax money is going to Iraq on the name of REBUILDING IRAQ but in reality is used in killing our finest men and women in uniform.
We need to stop giving billions of dollars to Egypt,Jordan,Palestine and specially the European invaders in Palestine which causes HATRED,TERRORISM and 9/11 against our nation.
Has Bush brought anything good to America?
