If one segment of society is taught to blame and hate another segment, poor blame/hate the rich, democrats blame/hate the republicans, blacks blame/hate the whites, etc. then incidents like this will continue to be the result. You teach and justify the mechanics of hate and those learned mechanics are applied elsewhere. We will find that this murdering kid had some grudge and he felt justified in his blame/hate/actions.

Bildo is right! I had my cable disconnected last week - pi$$ on it! I got tired of my kids having to flip through MTV, VH1, Oh!, and the rest of the putrid ghetto-glorifying vomit just to watch Animal Planet. Not to mention, that insanely stupid "American IDLE" mania is pickling the brain of every female I know. The kicker was the "White Rapper?" nausea on VH1! Will I miss it? Yeah, but I'll get over it, save money and hopefully delay the ghetto-izing of my children by enough years that they are able to reject that trash for themselves. Most of you parents are too afraid to appear "uncool" so you'll just continue to let your kid's brains be marinated in Welfare check cashin', hip-hop, thug media. Does this make you mad? I hope so! Fact is he either copied this off of the Columbine shootings, or like the columbine shooters did got his ideas from the Hollywood movie "The Basketball Diaries." It's funny to see people blame guns, millions of people own guns and don't go around shooting people, why don't you blame the source of their ideas and motives and madness... Hollywood.

If you think he did this because he needed mental help then half of the country would be institutionalized... fact is idiots are brainwashed all their life by hollywoods little magic box the boob tube. If they want someone to do something like this all they have to do is put it in a couple movies and a few tv shows and before you know it fiction becomes reality. I see that the credit to limiting this tragedy is the fact that an off-duty policeman was there. We can't count on that always being the case. There was a huge reason that the framers of this republic included "the right to bear arms" It's a shame that there was not another man or woman closer to him that was armed that possibly could have put him down before he killed even one person.

A sense of decency and the value of self-respect and the respect of others has changed. We once had "neighbors" now we just have "houses next door" and we know no one. Behavior we once rejected is now accepted. It's the classic Roman decline.

The gunman used just an ordinary shotgun, probably with a sawed off barrel.(Shall we outlaw hacksaws?) The 38 caliber handgun was most probably a revolver. Very few semi-automatic handgus are made in 38 caliber. Neither shotguns nor 38 caliber revolvers are illegal in Australia.

I am 65 years old and I can recall only one mass shooting (in New Jersey) when I was growing up. Firearms restrictions were few then, and firearms were just as available then as now. For the life of me, I just cannot figure out why we have so many shooting now as opposed to the 1940s and 1950s. What has changed? Any answers?
