- The cops keep using the words--probably, possibly, she intended, we think, maybe, what if.
Give me a brake, if this was three people from nobodysville, it would not make the nightly news. - Reply to this comment
- "Nowak raced from Houston to Orlando wearing diapers in the car so she wouldn't have to stop to go to the bathroom, authorities said. Astronauts wear diapers during launch and re-entry."
I like the line about astronauts wearing diapers - like it justifies her wearing them in this instance. I don't know about you, but I found that line weird and out of place. - Reply to this comment
- Q: How far is Houston from Orlando?
A: Depends
LOL
What would Major Nelson say about all this???? - Reply to this comment

Assault and battery---period. - Reply to this comment
- What a weird case. This woman has obviously become unhinged. Just look at the two photos - if you didn't tell them, I don't think people would know they are the same person.
I think what was stated in the article is probably true - they added the additional charges to keep her from getting out on bail. They're probably afraid she might go after this woman again.
I think this woman definately had more than talking on her mind - driving 900 miles in diapers with the bag of goodies she had. She might be saying that to convice herself that was all she wanted to do, but I bet this would have escalated to much more if the other woman hadn't been able to get to the safety of her car. And she sprayed a chemical (most likely pepper spray) into the woman's open card window. Gee, I guess everyone sprays people they want to talk to with pepper spray - although I don't see how much discussion you could have with someone screaming and writhing in pain. - Reply to this comment

- The country is in serious decline. A diaper...lol. If you are going to represent the cutting edge of human accomplishment, I doubt this is the way to go about it. No need to go to the moon. Enough loonies to make this the moon.

- police Sgt. Barbara Jones Sez.
"If you were just going to talk to someone, I don't know that you would need a wig, a trench coat, an air cartridge BB gun and pepper spray,"
If she intended to kill Colleen Shipman, why pepper spray, why a BB gun?
I have some trash bags in my car right now, among other things, whats that prove? Millions of people have 4 inch folding knives so what?
The most I see is assault and battery.
Sgt. Barbara Jones is trying to get some headlines for herself. The kidnapping is pure guesswork and fabrication on Jones part. She even uses the words "probably" and "possibly".
Today if I called the cops and said so and so is "probably" or "possibly" going to kidnap me, they would tell me no crime has been committed and there is nothing they can do.

- I see your point about the murder charge, and frankly... the prosecutorial tactic of intentionally trumping up the main charge - or for that matter cumulatively stacking up multitudes of individual charges for the same crime is highly questionable. Prosecutors will often aim for so much higher & so much more than is appropriate simply because it increases the chances of having SOMEthing stick - plus, it intimidates the defendant into copping a plea.
BBgun & pepper spray aren't exactly lethal weapons - but the mallet, the newly purchased & opened knife, & the garbage bags seem a lot more insidious. - Reply to this comment
- ...sure, I get that love makes you do crazy things, just ask O.J. Simpson - but there's a limit, a line drawn where that doesn't quite cut it anymore, just ask Fred Goldman - pretty much any criminal has issues, murderers have issues, rapists have issues, child molesters have issues - but whatever your issues, you gotta get around them, at least enough not to do what she did. I feel badly for her husband & mostly for her children, who weren't given the option of choice in this matter.
She should be villified for her actions... because her actions were vile. And the basis for many of our laws is to combat that which we as a society deem vile. We react strongly because it flies in the face of our sense of decency - we imagine how we'd feel if we or someone we care about were her victim, her husband, her children...
The fact is though, she only "actually" committed assault - even though her plans certainly suggested more... and frankly, were it simply a matter of assault - I'd be much more inclined to sympathize with her as you do - but I think the depth of this situation goes beyond that framework, at least for me. - Reply to this comment
- Passing judgment based on the scanty information given in a single news article is totally ridiculous. That is what trials are for, after hearing all evidence.
Asking questions is a different story, for instance if murder was the motive why didn%u2019t she have a real gun instead of a BB gun. She had had a perfect opportunity to shoot the victim when she rolled the window down. Just a thought. - Reply to this comment

- I have read the artcles and seen the vistals on this. I feel ladies can and do fly into space. I feel that this lady has brought shame upon the uniform of the armed forces, her command/rank,her children, her family, her job. She will have answer for it all. I am very happy that ladies now fly into space.I held on to that ,ladies will fly into space in my life time. That came to be. This lady is a disgrace to the Navy,NASA,her family and
to us women. My foster brother shot me in thige when I was 14 with a BB gun. It sure hurt at the time but the BB didn't break my skin as I wore heavy wt. jeans. I feel that this woman planned this whole thing out as she knew right from wrong. She is a college grad. What in the world was she thinking when she did the crime be it passon or actios carried out in the crime?. She knew better.Don't blame it on her gender. Men do the same. I am an older lady. She kissed her job good-bye when she did the mess that she is in. I feel for her children. I hope that she becomes an eex space woman.Thank you. - Reply to this comment
- ...or pensacola, it might be a person like ME on the jury who is YOUR only hope that a would-be predator doesn't get free & victimize you or your family at some point in the future. Your concocting these outlandish scenerios that are neither supported by evidence, nor logic, nor even the defendant herself do not conform to any semblance of justice or fairness...

- Something's mighty fishy here. Extremely aggravated person drives 900 miles to freak out at the other end, scare the hell out of someone, get caught by the authorities, and overall, disgrace herself. Betcha there was someone not considering someone else here - big time. It's easy to condemn this woman, but her biggest critic will probably end up being herself. She'll catch a glimpse of the "object of her affections" a few years down the road, in a courtroom where he gets off Scott-free after treating her like dog dirt, etc., etc., and she'll think - Hell, I blew my life to hell for that idiot". Advice? Remember, time heals all wounds, and wounds all heels. We don't have to get in our cars and drive and endanger others and ourselves - idiots usually pay, even if it takes a long, long time. Life takes care of it.
