- XCELLENT: Anybody that's taken into the fold of NASA is there for one reason: CRONYISM, not competence. And there are some very sick psychos holding security clearnces in the USA. Why else has the NASA space team lost two shuttles? Those that clear people for clearances in the USA, such as astronauts, are as fvcked up as the looney fundamentally ill right winged wackos that permeate our governemnt and its security apparatus'.

Neither of us is privy to all the details, but your guess is as good as my guess of obsessiive love-- both conditions are capable of such behavior.
Your point about military drug use is very relevant, because that was the principal defense in the Afghan case in which two US pilots dumped 500-pound bombs on Canadian ground troops. The bombs hit their "target" with military precision, but the target was friendly, and from most accounts, well-identified.
