the only thing missing in Boston is a brain. When the terror attack comes, the "authorities" will not have a clue. We watch too much television and allow too many snake oil peddlers to frighten us with their "the sky is falling" message. Get a grip!

"If that looks like a bomb then we better take down every frigging neon sign across America..." Posted by acesstrts at 04:16 PM : Feb 01, 2007

You got a point there! I lived in Beantown for almost 15 yrs & I never could understand what was up with that citco sign they have looming over fenway like some sort of neon totem to the gasoline gods! I suspect that at one time it may have been a virgin oil sacrificial alter.

This is dumb. First off, they just look like a light brite, second, terrorists don't make their devices to be obvious or visible - a discarded backpack, a pile of a homeless person's clothes, an old cardboard box - that's where the bomb will be.

"The only thing to fear is fear itself" applies even more strongly when your enemy is 'terror'ists.

Missjami -

So you're saying no one can have an opinion against the autorities/the govt/this country/each other without violating the rules of this forum? You're one sick individual.... if CBS allows the discussions, then that is what they are. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, amplifying an opinion by posting in an open forum is not a violation of the rules per se, and aren't you guilty of the very rules violation yourself? lol...

what I want to know is how did it cost $750,000 to get rid of seven of these things? What did they do use the entire police force and charge for a trip to disneyworld for all their families? The mayor of Boston should be fired if it costs him three quarters of a million dollars to destroy seven harmless devices.

A. Work at the white house.

B. Give George Bush handjobs

I'd take a look at the white house on google earth, ever notice how when you zoom out it is an upside down pentagram? The governemt is corrupt and when you get your national ID card next year, you might wanna reconsider who you're backing, ok?

People seem to be ignoring the fact that a police official turned up on TV and AFTER examining one of these obviously harmless items made the knucklehead claim that it was "an improvised explosive device." This is so utterly moronic that one wonders what he was smoking.

THAT is the reason and the ONLY reason the authorities are making so much of this. They acted like idiots, demonstrated they are ignorant, half witted, clods and now MUST try to shore up their own reputations by carrying on this ludicrous prosecution.

What the hell is wrong with Boston? Clearly the signs look nothing like a bomb and nothing more then just a sign. If that looks like a bomb then we better take down every frigging neon sign across America so this does not happen again. Way to go Boston for bieng the most out of touch city in America!

"Even though we are in a post 9/11 world, I don't think Turner or Interference, Inc. has any fault in this matter.

Posted by jah434s at 03:46 PM : Feb 01, 2007"

You are not thinking if you can.

It is media people like Turner who have been part of fear mongering among Americans.

And now he turns around and seek to capitalize on and profit from the negativity he and the rest of the media have been spreading?

That is as corrupt a business practice as we've ever seen: Generating fear among the people and then trying to gain 'cheap' advertising and make money off Americans' fears.

Turner and the others should be charged with racketeering!
They should lose any profit made, and then some, plus ALL cost to the city and people of Boston who may want to sue Turner.

Oh Please...we all have the choice to be part of the problem or part of the solution.

Ted Turner's marketing gurus made a bad decision. They accomplished their goal but they made a poor choice of how to do it.

The consumers that called in with their concerns chose to be part of the solution. Since the day a simple backpack injured hundreds & the day a common shoe served as a bomb, we all have to look at things differently. When you choose to mock those that feel a sense of social responsibility you choose to be part of the problem.

The law enforcement officers that did their job & took precautions are part of the solution. I presume that the cost of stopping traffic for a while & detonating a suspicious object is far less than the cost to dig bodies out of the rubble that a bomb may have caused.

The media that blows a situation out of proportion by reporting, yet unfounded information as though it were fact, is part of the problem.

Those of you that choose to use this circumstance as an excuse/opportunity to bad-mouth the authorities, the government, this country & each other are indeed part of the problem.
In this situation at least, the problem is that you are engaged in freedom of speech that the owners of this forum have set rules of for & many of you are either do not understand those rules or feel you have a right to violate them. Neither condition is acceptable.

You are obviously fixated on that maniac muslim FOR THE WRONG REASON!

Even if it should give the enemy a modicum of joy that we are alert and attentive, it would be childish to focus on the enemy and his modicum of joy.

Better to look at the perspective that WE ARE INTENT ON ERRING ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION FOR THE BENEFIT SAFETY AND JOY OF LOT MORE AMERICAN PEOPLE THAN A FEW insane islamists!

Why is it that only one city was 'terrorized' by this?
Certainly other cities heard about it and cpmpared notes about it.
Never going to Boston - too jumpy and the cops could be way too trigger jittery!
