Comments on: "Regret" At Ads That Sparked Bomb Scare
2 People Arrested; Turner Broadcasting "Regrets" Scare Caused By Devices It Says Aren't Dangerous
- The reason they arrested the guy is because they looked really freakin stupid for overreacting, so they go arrest some poor *** who so desperate he had to go take a job hanging this *** up. I bet the guy didn't make over $200 for the whole deal... if they're going to pick a fight for them being stupid and reactionary they need to sue cartoon network, not pick up on some poor *** for the hanging SIGNS for them... I hope this guy sues the city of Boston for all they're worth after this bogus arrest...

- I have to agree with dreamerguy18, mdc76082 and tucson32, among others. This was not a hoax or attempt to scare our already paranoid populace. I'm 58 and I know who ATHF are and love the show. We're already afraid of anyone with a beard, a guy in a bathrobe getting his paper in front of his house, an empty beer can lying on a street, and so on. Come on, America, show us your cohones (whoops.... a Hispanic "terrorist" word). Let's get back to being real and not being afraid of our own shadows... or Mooninites. Better being afraid of Moonies and other right wing paranoids.

- You think this was overreaction? What were we to do, stand around and wait for someone to claim the bags? There's no "it could be a bomb", decisions have to be made. It either is or it isn't, and there is no middle ground reacting to either way. If this happened in Crawford I have no doubt there would be B-2s over Tehran right now, even if Turner did come to claim the bags.

- Of course the response seems frenzied in hindsight, but how should police respond to small ciruit boards with a character (from a show with anything but major familiarity...college students aside) placed on support structures for bridges? What if it was Mickey Mouse, would that matter? Were these clearly ads? Was space rented, liscenses obtained; ie, were the ad placements legal? If the answers are no, then the city acted appropriately. In addition, while there were at least 50 state, local, and federal law enforcement officials on the Boston Common late this afternoon, they were not in "freak-out" mode, but rather laughing in groups. My concern is that if they prompted this response, why did it take more than a week to notice them?

- At worst, the companies involved should maybe reimburse for the costs. But criminal charges? It sounds like the city of Boston is embarrassed they got fooled by a Lite Brite and are hoping criminal charges will somehow make their overreaction seem less ridiculous.
Besides, why "Err" on the device? We all know that Carl is the star of that show :) - Reply to this comment
- All I can add to this is, what kind of idiot has never seen a mooninite before? I'm 37 years old and would recognize one as soon as I saw it--it's not like you have to be a teenager to know what ATHF is. I personally find it sad to live in a country where everyone thinks CSI is a good show (it's not, sorry), while no one has seen a Mooninite flip someone off. Shameful.

- I don't care what the gov or mayor said today, this was nothing short of sheer brillance in advertising! I laughed my arse off. Way to go! Aqua Teen Hungar Force Strikes Again!!!! What an over active, frenzied public we have. Wholly c_rap. We're scared at the drop of a pin! Better watchout, the big bad terrorists might just learn they can "scare" us to death. Now they'll beat us with lite-brites!

- Why is this being called a hoax? I thought a hoax meant a phony box on the side of the road and someone reporting a bomb as a joke. I seriously doubt that was the intentions of this act.

- Gotta go
I leave you all with the fact, that what happened in the city of Boston today, was just plane old over reaction gone amok in double time with a large dose of stupidity added for good measure.

- The world used to be about survival of the fittest, now it's all about survival of the dumbest, most cowardly, and weakest. If you're scared to death of a circuit board, 4 batteries, a few capacitors, and some LED lights shaped like some cartoon character you obviously fall into that category.

- When I first heard the Boston (Massachusetts) police were shutting down highways and bridges, I thought Ted Kennedy was in town driving a car.
