You want lonely? How does this reporter think these parents felt when he took this child.

I'm glad he had time for hobbies. Glad he could be human and not tortured like those poor babies. I can't say enough bad things about this piece of trash....I can't believe how angry I am at the ignorant reporter who even published this story! Don't you feel like a rat for humanizing this devil? Whatever. Such a disgrace. Poor lonely pig.

Lonely?!? HOw dare you!!! How do you think those poor vicitms of your felt, you piece of human waste....What makes any reporter think anyone gives a *** about him? The only words that could ever be worth reporting out of his disgusting mouth would be, "I couldn't be more sorry. I'm a terrible person and I deserve to die." Put him in with the rest of the convicts and give him a taste of what he deserves! Nothing could be more just. Pathetic family, how could you not know? Losers. All of them.

ocaptain, your question about where was his family is an excellent point. We can thank God for the unibomber's brother.

How many other people out there are tormented or confused about something a family member is doing?

I liked one of the online story - don't you find Shawn H's family bizzare? Instead of seeking privacy for their son and working on their own personal reconciliation they became part and partial of a media blitz - all appeared on Oprah, inclusive of the victim - Shawn!

This is a very sick man. I hate what he did to those boys and believe he should never be allowed to be free ever again to attempt to repeat his actions. He should spend this time either in a prison for the criminally insane, or simply prison because he knew full well what he had done.

The sooner the better. If he is killed by fellow inmates, which is likely because other prisoners hate child molesters, than he will have gotten what he deserves.

It may be that other children were taken by this man and are as yet not accounted for. Perhaps they were no longer of interest to the kidnapper or too difficult to control or too devastated to deal with. Mind control plays a huge part in the brainwashing of a mind and it's easier with a child than an adult. Shame is probably keeping the victims silent. Kidnappers always seek complicity in their control of thie victims, and when broken down, told they were unwanted or unappreciated by the parents. A desperate child would have no other course open to save himself from further cruelty but to believe this. Please remember to NOT blame these victims for ANYTHING they may or may not have done. Adults in prisoners of war situations can attest to the powers exerted by a captor and the side effects on the human mind. Ask Sen. John Mc Cain about that.I believe there are more victims out there and hope they will be found soon and alive. Also I don't believe he should have the opportunity to plead his case and demean his victims before millions with his pitiful tale of being lonely whil his victims remain silent, traumatised and devastated.

RE: "Devlin described himself as an outdoorsman, particularly fond of hunting and fishing, but amputations of two toes because of his diabetes forced him to give up those hobbies."

He used his toes to fish.

What a weirdo.

krymson - Ron - the more we know about these people the easier it becomes to spot them within our own communities - AND - also its necessary to also point out that many around this guy has questions and didn't even lift a finger to call teh cops casue 'they didn't want to get involved'.

Also - it doesn't appear that this guy is even saying he was abused.

Bottom line is that a more educated American public would NOT have not gotten involved - would NOT have dug their heads further into teh sand and would have at the very least called the cops and said 'hey you know - my neighbor has a truck like that and there is something a little off with his kid who doesnt' go to school ....' - at the VERY LEAST.

I agree with the people on here that it is important that the public get some insight into this mans head. I myself have two children...and I have never thought to myself that they could be kidnapped by someone who is simply feeling "lonely".

Sadly there will have to be a trial which will cost a lot of money even though it is beyond obvious that he is guilty of the crime. Hopefully it will at least be speedy, and he can begin serving his time. It is comforting to know that in most prisons the inmates usually beat up those who have committed crimes against kids.

I understand a person's choice to refuse to hear the excuses of this man, but disagree that he should only be allowed to speak within a courtroom. Freedom of speech also includes the freedom to hear. If an accused is denied the right to speak, what happens to the public's right to hear? If this man is only allowed to speak behind closed doors a dangerous precedent is set. Would you limit this gag to kidnappers only? Who else would you silence? Have our freedoms not suffered enough erosion?

I have to agree with jcnbma, only because I've worked with these individuals and still have a lot of family and friends that do. The public needs to be more educated and aware of what kind of people could be lurking among us. Some of us becoming our own "criminal profilers". Let's face it, locking people up doesn't solve problems, it acutally creates bigger ones..

Don't be to quick to shut him up. The more he tslks the more we learn what drives the sick ones to do what they do, how they do it and hopefully find them when thet do it.

I'm not too much interested in what Michael Devlin has to say. Two missing, kidnapped boys were found in his apartment. What more is needed as proof that this man does not belong , loose, in society? As a predator, he is a threat to any and every child who has ever ventured out of his/her guardian's sight!

I find any interview, published or televised, with him to be offensive and insulting to kidnapped victims, and their families, worldwide and ask that nothing this man says be aired or printed. The reasons he did what he did are irrelavant and anything he says should be kept to court room procedures and not exposed as public knowledge. The public need not know anything but what the verdict is after he is tried in a court of law. Any statements or explanations from Devlin should be held in complete confidence until it comes out in court.
I consider any exposure to what Devlin has to say to be an insult to his victims and their families and ask that all media outlets refuse to publish any statements until he is found GUILTY in a court of law. He has not earned the right to be presented as a troubled person with an abusive past. He his a villian and it is no more complicated than that!

"...fond of hunting and fishing."

You mean fond of slaughtering innocent animals.

"I guess you could say I was lonely. All my friends starting getting married and having kids."

There you go, just as I said earlier he probably was LONELY and in his nutty mind wanted a ready made "family" He was not a pedophile, and everyone was assuming the kids were molested when absolutely NO evidence has been forthcoming that the had been.

"...placed on suicide watch"

Why bother? give him a rope and if he decides to off himself thanks- save us some money for a trial, or else he can stick around and take his lumps for kidnapping- 20 years in prison is typical.

It is a shame that Devlin has to go through a trail of presumed innocense when he is so obviously guilty. What a waste of tax payers money. He should be taken straight to jail and put in solitary confinement and not be given companionship. Since he says he kidnapped the children because he was 'lonely', he should not even be allowed to be with the prisoners at large. The man is a deviant and a danger to society. He should be made to suffer as the parents of those children he kidnapped had suffered. There is no excuse for such an animal.
