10-Year-Old In Texas And 9-Year-Old In Pakistan
- some of you keep talking about this family being illegal, that may be. but we did let them come over here along with a large portion of the rest of the country that being illegal. but being illegal isnt the issue here it is the children in the world being mentally damaged by adults who do pay attention to the signs. adults who allow these kids to see things they dont understand..PROTECT THE CHILDREN THEY ARE THE FUTERE..

- if you call me monitering what my children watch on tv being sheltered then whatever but if more parents,uncles,aunts,grandparents,etc... paid more attention to what these kids are seeing then there would be less children dieing do to what they saw. and if you must let your kids watch it the make sure your child knows its not real. or that the person in the news that they saw was a very bad person who didnt care about anybody so he/she hurt and killed alot of people. if these kids where talked to more then they probly wont try this ***. i dont know what i would do if anything happened to my kids. my kids do know about 9/11. they know because i talk to them not because they saw it on the news or learned it at school. ,i dont lie to my kids.this is there country too and they need to know. plus my kids dad is in the army so they need to know why dad has to leave. my kids arent sheltered i just moniter what they view and if they do see something they shouldnt then we talk about it. i wish more people would do this then it may help stop our youth from suicide, murder, rape, beatings to join gangs to look cool,etc.. our kids are the future and it is up to us to protect them and teach them right from wrong and if we dont then all they know is what they see and that leads to problems.

- You're correct that kids can't be completely protected, Agnim. And there is way too much 'mental garbage' of all sorts available to them.
But the story does say that they watched the news item of the hanging together. I wouldn't let my kid watch that. Would you?
And honestly, I've wondered for a while if the Amish don't have the right idea. When was the last time you heard about a ride-by shooting? :-P - Reply to this comment

Hey .. just to help you out a little ... Pakistan and Guatemala are kind of a long way apart.
Don't let geography get in the way of your blind intolerance, though. Your president sure doesn't. - Reply to this comment
- "it just seems messed up violence is blamed on tv,video games, movies, even music,etc... when in reality the parents are the ones providing it to the kids.

The parents only 'provide' or allowed SOME of the violence!
When we live in a violence-ridden society where murderous warfare and the like are glorified, then the parents CANNOT protect the children completely, unless you are Amish? LOL - Reply to this comment
- jimibear you are absolutely right

- Amerigirl, what I meant was that a 10-year-old who doesn't understand that hanging kills is not educated to the appropriate level for his age. Thanks for the correction.

- "first of all if they are sending the boy's body back to the home country for burial, they are definitely "illegal aliens." That' criminal."
No it isn't; you are incorrect to suggest that. My father (a naturalized US citizen) has requested that his remains be returned to Ireland for burial in the family plot when he dies. There's nothing illegal in it, and to state that they are "definitely illegal aliens" for wanting to send their child to another country to be buried is an unjustified conclusion.
I agree with the rest of your post, though - the adult who allowed him to watch this was an idiot. I don't know that it has anything to do with their immigration status though; we have plenty of homegrown idiots. - Reply to this comment

i too shelter my kids. They did not see Sadamm being hung (what value does that give to life for a young child). But I do not lie to them.
be careful you shelter too much. If children are so sheltered that the world seems new and fun, as they age they will experiement to their detrimient. They need controlled exposure. It sounds like thats what you are trying to do. - Reply to this comment
- have you guys heard of the new choking game that kids are playing? Not poor kids. Not black kids. Middle and upper class white kids who do not do drugs are using the high from passing out to get high. There have been many deaths. As soon as i heard about this (although I am not white, I am middle class and my children are too young for drugs) I sat my kids down. This is about thinking. There have been good kids who have died because instead of drugs, they wanted to get high and pass out with their friends.
this is sad. Kids are out of control because they believe if they strangle their friend (a little) that friend will get high and come back alive with no problems.
INDOCTRINATE YOUR KIDS WITH TRUTH.
Teach them to love themselves. I tell my girls, if you love yourself, you won't hurt yourself or hurt anyone else. I don't know if its working, I'll find that out when they're teens, but at least they can't say I 'sheltered' them from reality. - Reply to this comment
