- Thank you Mr. Autrey. The world needs more people like you. As I was reading this, I was wondering if i could do the same. I honestly can not say that I could. I hope that you will be an insperation to myself and others to change the "me, me, me" way of thinking.

- What a wonderful thing. It had nothing to do with race, religion, or ethnicity. Just one humans concern for another.

- What an incredible man! He was willing to risk his own life to save a stranger, another human being in danger. The word Hero seems almost too small to describe this awesome act of selflessness. I applaud you Wesley Autry, may all the blessings and goodness of the Universe follow you for the rest of your life!

- What a story ! A real hero ! Should go to the White House, just as Reagan celebrated the hero who jumped into the freezing waters to save people from a small plane accident in the 1980s. What a hero !

- I have long felt that these days, the word "hero" goes for cheap; it's applied to just about any ordinary rescue situation. But HERE is a situation in which this man is TRULY a hero -- he put his own life on the line to save the other person. Now THAT is the real meaning of "hero." Here is a real hero who has earned my profound respect, admiration, and gratitude.

- Mr. Autrey - It is said that a parent's actions become their children's bible. This incredible act of selflessness is now a chapter in their bible they will remember always.
GOD bless you and your family. You are a hero! - Reply to this comment
- To paraphrase a line from "Superman II"
Wesley..."Way to go Supes!"
Oddly enough Superman did the same thing you did in the 1978 movie! ;)
You are truly one amazing man. May God bless you, good Samaritan Wesley, always. You SAVED a man's life!
There truly is no greater gift to give. - Reply to this comment

That man is a hero! I hope we hear more about what will become of his actions. If I had money, I'd set him up for life!- Reply to this comment
- Agnim-
I can't help but feel sorry and sympathy for you. What happened to you and at what stage of your life that turned you into this hateful person?
Mr. Autrey is indeed an angel that walks among us. Everyone please, please, please email Mayor Bloomberg to ensure that is true American hero receives the proper recognition he truly deserves. I did. - Reply to this comment
- "Agnim... You might try reading the best seller of all time to learn something about real joy and real truth. Among the many other things this book speaks of war and the justifcations of war.

Any so-called 'bestseller' that would justify your war is a piece of trash.
And no wonder its violence-loving readers have been so infernally destructive across the planet over time; your minds have been poisoned with its ignorant and barbaric religious rubbish. - Reply to this comment
- "A black man was brave enough to risk his life for a white man in trouble.
Do you racists feel stupid now?

Maybe it was your "black man" who is the stupid one, no?
He could have saved a racist to continue tormenting his soul? LOL - Reply to this comment
- The year just started and we already have THE MAN Of THE YEAR for 07, this is hard to top.
He should be recognize by his town, state and and the whole United State. I think he should also be rewarded for his heroic act. You did GOOD

- There is a time and place for everything, and con_dik_kikr, this isn%u2019t the time nor place to proselytized about racism, just appreciate the selflessness of this individual, pure altruism, I%u2019m floored and moved that anyone would put his/her life in such grave danger for a stranger. And making unwarranted insults over something so pure only demonstrates the perversion that lies within your soul, because I%u2019m quite sure an individual, such as yourself, would have undoubtedly stood by and did nothing. As, I%u2019m one to call it like I see it, there is good and bad in all of us, of which this gentleman has demonstrated the absolute good, on this point you%u2019re so wrong. So before you start pointing your self-righteous finger at whites, in which, by the way, most have posted positive comments, put your belligerence to work and try to espouse some of his values by cleaning up the social apathy and moral degradation that exist in black communities.

- That's a very inspiring story, and it's really nice to see good news of brave deeds reported for a change. And that was genuine selfless heroism; as he said, he didn't want the guy to die or his kids to see it, so he put himself in harm's way.
I hope I'd have the nerve and quick-thinking to do the same. - Reply to this comment
