Re: Bush being the Manchurian Candidate theory.

All this brainwashing must have happened while he was off fighting the Vietcong in Texas. He must have been captured, brainwashed, and released into society like a sleeper cell. A very dumb sleeper cell, but still.

"So far I have been called a bigot for supporting Jews as if the world could have known that people in the muslim world would hate israel except if it was for religious reasons of whatever. But for this I am called a bigot. The obvious answer to that is that Islam must be a religion of hate- instead you become hateful as a winter snow storm and explicitly state religion is a religion of hate. No one has the brains to recognize that."

Iamsam,
Does someone not have the brains to construct a proper sentence or demonstrate a consistent train of thought? You are either a child or a fool. Either way, you are in way over your head to come here to save or educate anyone.

Gladys_Over As the policies of George W. Bush have brought our military to this state, is it time to ask if Bush could be the "Manchurian Candidate," placed in the Oval Office by al Qaeda to destroy America's defenses ?

Should the new Democratic Congress begin investigations ?

WOW interesting and all this time I just figured he was just a plain dumb a$$ voted in by all the bible thumpers and daddys friends.

"...Bush could be the "Manchurian Candidate..."

Bush does have that "deer in the headlights" look one would expect of such a person.

Laurence Harvey had that look in the first "Manchurian Candidate." Liev Schreiber had it in the second.

Dr. Yen Lo: "Attractive plant you have here."

Zilkov: "Thank you, doctor. It's actually a rest home for wealthy alcoholics. We were able to purchase it three years ago. Except for this floor and the floor above it, which is sealed off for security purposes, the rest functions quite normally. In fact it's one of the few Soviet operations in America that actually showed a profit at the end of the last fiscal year."

Dr. Yen Lo: "Profit? Fiscal year? Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Beware, my dear Zilkov. The virus of capitalism is highly infectious. Soon you'll be lending money out at interest!"

Just wait...the issue of reinstating the draft will surface once again.

We're fighting a losing a battle -- just like VietNam. It wasn't worth the price then and isn't worth the price now.

"Over the last five years, the sustained strategic demand ... is placing a strain on the Army's all-volunteer force," Schoomaker told the commission in a Capitol Hill hearing.

Okay, now tell us something we don't already know. Many of us have experienced burn out at some point in our lives. It can be physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting. Know the feeling?

Now, multiply that a thousand fold -- adding weapons, combat, foreign culture, IEDs, etc., etc., etc. If it looks like a duck...

Engaging and sending more troops will only increase the burn out of our troops and exacerbate the revolving door rotation this administration created.

More is not necessarily better.

To correct some numbers -

People Saddam Hussein is accused of killing: 242,000, span of time - 29 years.

Iraqi casualties since US invasion: 636,000+
US Military casualties: 3115
Span of time - 3.75 years

There is a reason ethicists from both sides of the aisle are looking at this very critically now. The numbers don't lie: Iraqi's were far better off with Saddam.

But you cannot appreciate that without appreciating the history. When we (US and UK) redrew Iraq's borders to include three ethnic groups that hold opposing views on religion that have caused Holy Wars for thousands of years, you've created an environment where only one group will reign. Further proof that Church and State don't mix.
