When victories are more important than justice to the prosecution, this type of situation becomes inevitable. I don't mean to bring up this old subject, but I think it is pertinent here. When you allow the man in the highest office in the country to lie under oath and do not remove him from office or punish him in any way, aren't you in essence telling the rest of the country that lying under oath is not a crime and that it is acceptable?

I'm sorry if others don't agree..But I think they should drop all charges against these men and that DA/Mike Nigone should be charged with their supposed crime or some form of Criminal misconduct, and be sentenced to jail for the rest of his life. Here is a man that intentionally with held evidence, has refused to speak to the press, has condemmed these men from the start, absolutely ruined their lives, their families lives, and obviously does not want the truth to come out as to their being innocent of ALL charges. It's inexcusible. Someone please press charges against this man, and make him pay for what he wanted three innocent men to pay for so he could be reelected. It's just appauling no one has done anything to him for his total disreguard of these mens constutional rights, the judgecial process, not to mention "Innocent Until Proven Guilty".. I SAY MAKE HIM DO THEIR TIME.. He's the one that deserves it!!!I have been [sort of]following this case and it's a travestry. One last note: She should also have the book thrown at her.

Genetic material from several males none of which is the accused. This girl has several problems which absolutely negate her credibility. Case dismissed.

howzilla, but then that is your opinion and this is America and your are entitled to it, however here in North Carolina its done just as I posted earlier, I know as I have been on several juries and have been seated next to some pretty seedy people during these trials

Sexual misconduct, with strippers at a sports party? What the hell! You mean someone looked at her? Someone smiled at her inappropriately? Someone looked too long at her naked @ss as she stumbled across the room? Sexual misconduct! This was a stripper party, this wasn't a cadet inspection at West Point! There was nothing. She was in the process of being arrested for substance abuse and only then cried rape!!!!

Obstruction of justice, false imprisonment, libel and slander, the list goes on and on.

The release of the identities of the non-convicted so-called 'offenders' was also irresponsible and premature. It will be years at least, before their reputations are mended. This was definitely not a case of 'innocent until proven guilty'.

I understand rape trials can be rather touchy, but people have to maintain an unbiased objective view on such things. As of recent, I've heard time and time again of cases where the jury was biased in favor of the rape accusor: The offender was locked away without a second thought, despite the lack of evidence.

The justice system in this country should make the penalty for a false accusation the same as the accusation itself

Examples

1) If the penalty for armed robbery is 7-years, then the penalty for falsely accusing someone of armed robbery should also be 7 years.

2) If the penalty for rape is 20 years, then the penalty for falsely accusing someone of rape should also be 20 years

3) etc.,etc.,etc.

Prospective jurors are first part of a large jury pool. Then, they are assigned to panels, which are smaller groups from which jurors are selected. Propspective jurors that are put on a jury panel, or "impaneled", are briefed by the judge and questioned by attorneys for both sides. Not just by the DA

I have been there myself and know that there will never be justice for these boys. No money can ever compensate for their lost reputations. Mike Nifong should be removed from office and sued for obstruction of justice.

I have been there myself, I know from experience that there cannot be justice to the innocent in cases like these. The reputation of these boys is damaged for life and the DA is hiding behind impunity statues. Hope to God that he will be removed from office and charged with obstruction of justice.

howzilla, I guess you have never had jury duty or even know how one is chosen do you? You might want to do some research at your local Court house website

Well, no, if these were black kids, they would already have been convicted and be in jail since they would not have access to expensive lawyers like the Duke students have.

But that being said, the case is pathetic and should never even have been brought by the DA. But it was an election year ploy.

The DA should be prosecuted. He has to have violated some type of law on the books. His prosecutorial misconduct is a horror. We have wasted valuable time that could have been used trying to find Natalie Holloway in Aruba or those idiots climbing the mountain in Washington in December.....RR

This story makes headlines here all the time as Durham (not Raleigh mjv2944 as you posted)is only 45 minutes away from us. Each little detail they uncover is always in the news. I for one believe they are innocent. This woman has a criminal record of many things, including alleged rapes,

I say let the evidence speak for itself. The testing was performed by the prosecution so it obviously wasn't tampered with to help clear these guys. Where is equality here for the men in this case? Men are accused of rape and they are automatically pigs and there is no question they are guilty. Let the justice system do its job and decide their fate. Funny that all these female teachers have relations with students and they are felt sorry for and end up getting off with probation. Regardless of whether you're male or female you should be locked up if you are an offender!

They forgot to mention A congressman wants a federal investigation into Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong and the way he has handled a rape investigation involving three Duke University lacrosse players.
Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., has asked the U.S. Department of Justice to review the case, having accused Nifong of making prejudicial statements to the media and telling police to violate In a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, Jones also highlighted the fact that Nifong has never spoken directly with the accuser, a 27-year-old exotic dancer, about the case.

Nifong had no comment on the matter Tuesday.identification procedures.
