- well back to the topic at hand maybe all these people who want to do action instead of saying that we should do something how about we do something, we can reach out to these people do something for the family i think we could possible send some sorta of gift each individually to this family i know that there are some people who know how to get this kind of information if needed and we can send them a gift of money or whatever maybe some toys for the girls or something its going to be tough for them.

- How awful, I was really pulling for him to be found alive.
His death does not detract from his heroism, God bless his family in this time of sorrow!
It's folks like Eric Fuqua and Noah Pugsley that refresh my faith in the human race. - Reply to this comment
- What a sad ending.
James Kim was a very brave man, to have left his wife and two kids, to go on alone to find help for them.
This is just absolutely heartbreaking. - Reply to this comment
- Unfortunately this is something that happens in the Pacific Northwest when people get off the main roads in winter. It all may look harmless enough, but the weather can change quickly. My heart goes out to this family.

- Gwagenar: Still a good Idea. If this was part of standard rescue procedures people might take their phones with them. If he does have a phone then some one should find the electronic serial number and start hunting it. Aparently the FBI has the ability to hear everything you say near your phone even when its off. so if he has a phone and it has a charge they should be able to find him, but I think it may be too late. Hope I'm wrong.

- Here's what I don't understand: Why don't the rescuers have a cell phone transmitter/receiver like the one on the cell phone tower mounted on a helecopter and then fly around the rugged mountains? They wouldn't even have to have the capability to call the lost persons (though that would be nice). All they would need is the ability to detect the "ping" and the direction of the "ping".
