Please before you comment on any symbols ... go to your nearst library and read up on it before putting judgement on it. Only the shallow mindedness and uneducated would think symbols like this is representing the devil.
There are a lot of symbols out there that is actually very much religious and have been taken out of context cause of human kind misleadingness.

IF you go back in the books of history ... this is not a sign of satan but from the church doctrines since 1476 but have not been use and have been misconstruded as the devil sign.

It's a Christmas decoration. Christ is known as the "prince of peace". It's not even big and obnoxious. If neighbors are allowed to put up crosses, santas etc. then what's the problem here? This is censorship and completely without merit. If I were this couple, I'd sue to keep it up.

I too appreciate the spirited debate, and yes, we most likely do agree -- to a degree, though I think I would sooner gouge out my eyeballs than live in a community with even more restrictions on how a person should live. I take the notion of "private property" very seriously, And I will forever reserve the right to not only put whatever I want on my lawn, but to tell my neighbor just precisely where he can put his objection to it.

But that's just me.

jebediah76, I think we basically agree. The other side of the coin is that there are a lot of HOA Boards that are poorley trained and uniformed as to what they can and can not leagaly do. Good chating with you.

If you read all my posts, you will see I never had a problem with the sign itself as long as it does not become a giant billboard.

My posts were in regard to living up to a signed contract,in a homeowners association, if the contract reads "no signs" well, then get together with everyone and get it changed to signs they agree on.

You can't do what you dam# well please after agreeing in writing!!

What ignorance and pure stupidity...The decoration is without doubt a wreath for the Christmas season. It is not a political statement. What if the "sign" said "Peace on Earth"? I doubt it would be considered unacceptable.

what frightens me, is the ignorance of the people who do not recognize the widely used PEACE SYMBOL. A "satanic" symbol... WHAT?? A "divisive" sign? A statement against the war?

Exactly what is the rule, word-for-word, that applies in this case. Are the "rules" not a sign that a homeowner must be polically correct?? What a cookie-cutter community...think as I do or go away. A personal agenda(s)IS in play here..this is clearly shown by Kearns' firing of the entire committee when they did not agree with him.
