smasterb, clearly you were dropped on your head as a child.

First, its not a choice. Clearly Ted Haggard made the choice NOT to be gay - and that didn't work out, did it.

Second, when you deal with choices and whether or not they're legally sanctioned - you deal w/the question of 1) whether or not the choice is reciprocal and 2) whether or not the choice is harmful.

Are you saying that the murder victim chooses to be a murder victim? Or the person who's stolen from chose to be stolen from? I think not. However, in same *** relationships - two people have chosen to be together. Plus there is no harm.

I just used these examples to show how your logic is flawed.

If you are honest from the start, you don't have to explain yourself in the end.

The total hypocrisy of Ted Haggard and the rest of his "friends" is unbelieveable. We'll see how much he beleives in the ex-gay movement when he fails at "restoration", its this process itself that leaves people broken and bitter. Come out Ted....Come out!

From the article:

"...where godly men who are clean themselves..."

Where on earth are they going to find "godly men who are clean themselves?"

Wasn't it Jesus who said "Let those without sin cast the first stone...?"

There are no "godly men who are clean themselves" only pretenders who have hidden their sin. Haggard is the perfect example. This pervert should just go sell shoes or cars, or maybe become an attendant at a bath house.

I also believe that there are many many people in the church just like this guy. The loudest anti-gay voices are often struggling with their own sexual issues and projecting them outward. People should be allowed to persue their own happiness without persecuted by hypocrits. As long as *** aren't hurting anyone, and they aren't, they have a right to be happy and comfortable in their skin just like you and I.

"I am amazed at the rejoicing in the downfall of someone..at the the utter destrction of theier lives."

He spent his life attacking people who's only crime was being born different. Of course people gloat about that. It does a soul good to see hypocrits fall on the sword they use to kut others down. I am not gay but I'm glad to see this man humbled in a public way.

The point is this man was living a closeted gay lifestyle while casting very large stones at ***. Americans don't like hypocrits who engage in the exact behavior they say is an abomination.

Well, drop-kick me Jesus through the goalposts of life, aren't you all a bunch of fine Christians?

Restoration is Biblical even if I have some problems with how easily this all seems to be going for Pastor Ted. It seems like he should have had to spend some time in the penalty box at least.

Jesus told the men who caught the adultress to cast the first stone and they all had the grace to drift away. The Bible doesn't quantify sin; it says that all have sinned and fallen short. If you ever told a lie, ever stole, ever broke one of the 10 Commandments, your sin is as bad as this man's. What was done to you?

Judging sinners is best left to God on judgment day.

I believe that New Life Church should dissolve its current status, regroup, and start all over. A new name should be given to the church. Ted Haggard should not receive any severance pay whatsoever for misrepresenting himself and for not heeding or seeking the word of God for complete transformation. He said it himself, "I am a liar and a deceiver". He has had this darkness about him all along and deceiving the entire world about who he really is. NO SEVERANCE PAY, AND RENAME NEW LIFE CHURCH!

I agree let him be gay and at the same time we should allow pedophilia, murder, polygamy, theft, extortion, incest, and any other act people may CHOOSE to engage in, go unquestioned. Those who engage in any of these acts are just being themselves after all.
Christians are so evil, trying to promote decency in our society.
Life is all about %u201CME%u201D, right? I get to make whatever choices I want to and not be responsible for the consequences. All I have to do is hide like a coward behind the word freedom.
O.K., I am convinced this person did nothing wrong. Drug use, choice! Soliciting a prostitute, choice. Not practicing what he preached, choice. Heck he should just go about his business, he did nothing wrong, after all lying is a choice as well.

Love k,

I am amazed at the rejoicing in the downfall of someone..at the the utter destrction of theier lives. Why is it that there is joy in misery of otheres, especially if they have espoused a diffeent lifestyle than that which they projected? As a Chrisitan, I am deeply saddened when the "fall" becomes public whether it is a liberal secularuust or a conservative evangelical...a Priest, rabbi or clergy...even when it is a senator from Mass. The inhumanity of finding joy in the misery of others is the greatest hipocrisy of all. I pray that I may be forgiven by God of inconsistencies in my life better than I have always forgiven others. I'm just a Christian (a human being by the way) still on the journey.

I wonder if laurie54 has the same opinion on a woman who get's an abortion????? She stated and I quote 'what he did or did not do is between him and God'! Isn't it the same way with a woman who CHOOSES NOT to bear a child????? What she is doing is between her and God! Or do all of those high flown morals you Christian's spout only apply when you feel like they should! It also says in the bible 'judge not least you be not judged'! Wise words for a lot of Christian's to start living by! But, unfortunately enough they don't! They are adamantly against gay marriage, abortion and everything else that goes against their private Christian traditions! Unmindful that a lot of us Christian's do not buy into their radical version of issues! And don't really care if the next door neighbor's are living in sin out of wedlock! A lot of us don't see it as our duty to preach to someone else! I personally see forcing a woman to bear an unwanted child as the crime of the century! Maybe if a few Christian's started minding their own business when it comes to moral issues in this country! They might find other Christian's a little more receptive to their sins when they are uncovered and held up for ridicule!

What a theatrical farce! Haggard is a gay trying to double as a straight married minister. What he needs to do is open his heart to his creator, who created him as a gay man (apparently), and live a gay lifestyle. There are plenty of churches that would love to have a waxing honest gay minister. He needs to give up the white picket fence with wifey, get himself a gay relationship, and be a responsible father from the other side of the road. What's the difference if he is gay or not! The tradegy is the hypocritians surrounding him who are going to try to shame him into trying to be what he is not. He did a dandy job with being honest about his transgressions. Now he needs to be honest about his homosexuality. This "straight but not narrow" would respect someone like that a whole lot more than those religious right witch hunters trying to fit everyone into their (donation) box.

"There will be prayer, and perhaps the laying on of hands."

Wasn't that how he got into trouble in the first place.

Haggard's tragedy continues. Seems he will never admit who, or what, he is. It is horrible that this obviously gay man now has to be subjected to the hands of these Pharisees who will torture him in the name of Jesus for years to come. He ended up where he was in all of this because he was living a lie. The lie now deepens. This is homophobia on steroids!

Jesus Christ our Lord & Savior would never say such hateful belittling remarks like the Focus on the Family S O B. So failures are guys that sell shoes or autos?

"I see success approximately 50 percent of the time," said H.B. London, vice president for church and clergy at Focus on the Family said those who fail "end up selling cars or shoes or something, and being miserable and angry the rest of their lives."

This Focus on the Family is the biggest SHAM and affront to Christianity in the United States. There all a bunch of closet queens beating each other for saying the young new clergy is adorable. They got to my friend who's gorgeous in & out, what am I to do!? It's been 3 years, he's so repressed. JUST LET HAGGARD BE HIMSELF - GAY! He won't visit prostitutes then, cause he won't have to hide it! They keep falling because they dress in fancy suits and watches in fancy cars going to their fancy homes. What a nice racket they got going. I pray these "godly men"'s church fumbles and collapses like a house of cards, because they've hurt too many people.

IF YOU GIVE TO FOCUS ON THE FAMILY - STOP NOW!

Would Jesus come back wearing a Rolex and an Aramani suit? With respect to the deadly sin of greed, it seems many of these churches and they leaders fall short. I don't think bluestardad's comments are totally off base.

But by the grace of God, there go I.
Has anyone ever heard that saying?
I believe Brother Haggard has God's grace on him, and God will help him through this.
What he did or did not do is between God and him. But God will forgive.( has forgiven.)

God bless Rev. Haggard, and I know he can make it through this with God's help. I will be praying for him every day.
He would not want to go through this process if he were not repentant.
You can make it , Bro. Haggard. God will not give up on you!
